Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, somewhat new to Ducati, and not new to working on bikes.

I have an 07 M9695 that I lowsided in gravel about a week ago, which bent my handlebar.
I didn't like the chrome bar anyway so I've ordered a black aluminum Rizoma bar to replace it.
I'm pretty handy so I'm sure I can handle installing it, but I'm a tiny bit concerned with the holes in the stock handlebar.
I've heard some people drill holes in the new bar, and some grind off the little studs on the controls.

Which would you guys say is better?  If I drill new holes, I have a machine shop at school where I can do it, but is there a trick to lining them up in the right place so they match the old bar?  And if I decide to remove the studs on the controls, will I have issues with them shifting later?

Thanks very much!

I always keep my controls pined as long as I know where I want them to be.  I hate switch gear that moves , without the pins you can put a layer of hockey tape and clamp the switch down on it. It helps a lot.

I always pin my throttle but I do not pit my brake or clutch masters. So there you go, I am no help at all. [laugh]

use a center punch to start your holes to be drilled and then it is just taking your time and lining things up.
