Apparently, if you buy the frame and engine, they throw in a drill press, a microwave, a second motorcycle that I can't quite make out, two shop monkeys (one wearing a muscle shirt, and, disturbingly, one wearing a rubber glove), and a curious shop customer.  Hard to beat that, for $10 and $301 shipping.

[laugh]  That's pretty damn funny.   Thanks for the laugh, I needed it.

i don't know the rest of the story.  bike was stolen and recovered with a seized engine, broken alternator cover, and tweaked forks.  nothing else was off.  the seller is a bike shop that buys salvaged stuff, which buddy contacted and got parts off for another bike.  he said they were going to part the bike after getting the engine "cleaned up."

stolen bikes are pretty common in Queens.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

queens ny?

Still a good deal if you can get something like $300 bucks for it. Even with the shipping price, the engine alone would be worth it.

The shock olone would be worth it. It is a Ohlins, isnt it.

Queens NY is a long way to ship,, for me. Shipping might cosy more then the purchase itself. If it was on the west coast i would be a little more motivated.

My guess is is sells for over $1000

I am sure it will, but I just wonder the condition of the engine.  Just because it starts doesn't mean its in good shape.

Yea, but as long as the block isnt cracked, and nothing blew up inside, im sure you can overbore it, drop new pistons and have a nice engine. unless the whole thing grenade'd itself. The shipping is fixed though, he doenst mentioin anything about where it goes, jut the lower 48.

me wants.

Alright, now im actually kinda serious about buying this. College Point ( i assume college point blvd queens) is like 45 mins from me, so i can do a pick up. (they are charging $301 for shipping to me, they can suck it if i cant do a pickup).

So in all fairness, if you intrested in purchasing this item, then go ahead and bid, but please dont bid just to bump the price for no reason. Also, i have my set limit, so if your willing to spend more than me on this item, then just PM me, and ill stop bidding.

Thank You guys.

Also, that is not an Ohlins shock. Its a 749 Showa. only the S and R models came with Ohlins. so the shock itself is only worth $100.

called them up.

THey are welcoming anyone to come check it out and recommend a pick up.

Engine is not siezed, though i did not mention it, didnt want to blow ducatizzz cover  [thumbsup]. But the engine starts and runs, the bike was hit in hte front and he said all the damaged was to the front plastics lights (he did not mention forks). It has a salvaged title, and everything else on the bike is top notch, its just being parted piece by piece. A lot of peopel are calling in about it, and an importer is comming today to take a look at it for a guy overseas etc.

ill take a look, and do a bid. since i dont get hit with $300 shipping.

Engine is not siezed,....

hmmmmm

i wonder if it was just locked by the clutch.  buddy got a full payout on it because the adjuster said the engine was seized.. who knows?

Steering stop tabs are tweaked hard, which could mean the headstock is twisted. Clutch cover took a good hit, and the brake lever's toe peg is sheared off. Also, the frame has a few good hits on it, just above where the right rear sets bolt on, so I'd suspect some frame alignment issues.

Looks like an Ohlins rear shock, but it looks like it's been stripped of its compression adjustment knob.

Where's the front end? Or the radiator? Low-side into a curb/fixed object?

But even more disturbing.... How do you accidentally run w/o oil?!!!

Given it's history, I'd skip it. Just my $.02!
