Hey everyone,

I've discovered a minor wiring issue with the Fuel level sensor on my '96 M900.

Have any of you had to re-connect wires to the sensor's clip?

I haven't...

but I've heard they won't work wired the wrong way.

Try this link for replacement connectors.  I can't promise they're the right ones, but they look like it.  (I've never used these people.  Just found in a search.)  You'd be wanting the 2-way kit.  It looks like you can also just get the pins.
