So excited!

Just bought a pair of gt1000 sport classic wired wheels. I want to install them on my 900ss 1997, anyone here done this that can advise on the mods needed?

This question is for rear wheel only as I am putting on st3 forks on the bike.

Thanks,
Alex

Did you get the sport classic sprocket carrier along with it?

I guess that’s my next purchase :)

Anything else? ;)

The axle sizes are different both front, and rear on a stock 97 SS.

Not sure if you've already modified the front end to use a 25 mm axel.

I haven’t done anything :)

Saw a build based off a carbed 900ss where the wheels were swapped for gt1000. He used Forks from a st3 which I have bought. Other than that, nothing.

Right...you said that. Sorry. :-[

The front will be no issue, but I'm pretty sure the rear axl on your SS is a smaller diameter than the bearing ID on those wheels.

Hope you enjoy the read :)

But he’s using the rear axle? Hmmm...

1991 to 2007 SS ran a 17mm rear axle.

GT wheels run 25mm.  No good mod goes unpunished.  Enjoy the success when you’re done.  Endure the pain of doing it.

Doesnt this look straight forward? I’m saying that as a complete beginner and unexperienced so forgive me if I’m saying something dumb :)

Something wrong with the links.  I had to copy & paste to see the pics.

Yes!  It looks simple.  Modifications aren’t always as straightforward as you want.  There are several things which could or could not make this job difficult.  That’s all I was trying to say earlier.  Sorry if that message didn’t translate.

When you get the GT1000 cush drive, be sure you have BOTH spacers for the axle.  Bad things happen if not.

Do yourself a favor and find an original Ducati parts diagram for a GT1000.  Copy the picture.  It will help guide you.

Thanks for the pictures DucPainter.

I’ve made more mistakes than progress in the past month so anything that isn’t clear success is a mistake at this point hehehe :)
