but has anyone ever ridden one of these or has ANY info/review on these bikes?

Q-Link XF 200

or

United Motors Smf 200
http://www.umamerica.com/site/usa/motorcycles/dp/features/features2.html#usa_motodp2

it seems like a decent bike for the price. It does have a decent warranty but I am unsure if it is worth it.

the back story on why I am considering this is my mom recently just passed away 2 weeks ago and my dad has been really bummed, he has been really interested in LEARNING to ride lately and I am thinking something like this should help him cheer up a bit. he is 65 and should be retiring next April. I currently don't have extra cash to buy another bike so I am looking into financing something cheap. I could buy something better/pricey but my wife and I are house hunting. I could also sell one of my TTR's (125L & 230) and use the $$ towards something nicer, but would rather not go that route. I've wanted a street legal SM for a while and I figure with something like this I can't go wrong if my dad decides he does not want it. any input would be appreciated.. thanks!

i also posted in supermotojunkie.com and have been getting good replies  [moto]

Sorry to hear about your mom. :-\

That bike actually looks like a very decent package. Its got a suzuki based engine, mikuni carbs, with a stylish body.

I cant find the price though. How much is it?

thanks, she was suffering a lot the past few months from cancer. she is DEFINITELY in a better place now resting.

about the bikes, they are each about $2500-2800 at the local dealers.

the suzuki motor on the qlink is whats really selling me. tons of adaptable parts out there for these!

$2500? if your local dealer is selling them, id look around for a used one that someone never rode.

Hell for that price, im really tempted to pick one up. but you can also get a DRZ-400  for about $3300 used (much better quality probably since its an actual suzuki).

between the two...

I'd go with the UM

that q-link doesn't even have a disk on the back...it's drum. the front rotor looks really small too.

The UM looks like a better bike, just looking at the pics...not really reading much on them

well, i went to the two local dealers here in san diego- one for UM the other for QLink. Turns out the UM is not CARB legal and will not be sold street legal for CA anytime soon  >:(

went to the QLink dealer and test drove the XF200, I was really impressed on the little bike. it handled very well and the power is very similar to my TTR 230. this bike is well made for the price, so I made a good offer and they took it  [moto]. those things are being sold fast, i witnessed 3 sales in about 2 hours not including mine. i'll be picking it later on today  8) now we just wait and see how well it holds up!

I think I researched United Motors once. It seems I remember it being a rebadged Hyosung.

I was downtown in Oklahoma City yesterday and saw a UM sport bike. I didn't know what it was right off so I checked it out...It looked just like a Hyosung sport bike I saw a few years back.

UM and hyusong were originally made on teh same lines, not sure now.

They looked like decent bikes for the $, just realize with either one you aren't in the bike for 30k miles, As a once every now and then ride you probably did really good,

Hopefully it puts a silver lining on the cloud over your pops.

My dad rode the XF200 after we picked it up. he LOVED it, I think its perfect for what he is going to be riding. after that he couldn't stop smiling! so I think that bike already served it's purpose!

[thumbsup] That's really the reason any of us ride anyway. Who cares about the brand name wars and what-not as long as it makes ya smile.

Requirements:  Two wheels and a motor (brakes optional :) ).  That smile from your dad must be priceless!  Enjoy!

he must of rode for about an hour nonstop around the neighborhood [moto]
I thought I was going to have to remind him about the controls, but he just picked up and took off! he was asking me what we should start modding too! so yeah, I am SO happy about the purchase!

I rode that thing home from the dealer, it was so much fun! now I'm thinking of getting one for myself! it rode really well, the only thing I noticed was I need to change the mirrors-they really suck! I think the top speed I hit going downhill was about 75-80. regular cruising speed was about 65. so yeah, we gotta start modding that thing to get the ponies going.

here he is with an ear to ear smile
