I think u might have too i had ridden my bros CBR600 a couple times so my best comparison power wise would be that.  It is all relative

I don't see the big deal about the 1098, I rode the thing around the parking lot an it was just like any other bike.  I waz not even scared.

He Man

i saw a dude today on a busa. it was lowered and had an extended swing arm. the guy tippy towed it too... he is about 5'6.

You know how big bikes seem really wide from behind becasue the engine is lateral?

Well i thought that must of been why the bike looked huge 2 blocks away. so i speed up and i pull up next to him.....it wasnt the wide engine i was seeing, it was his fat gut. he was physically wider than a 1400cc busa engine. not only that, he was wearing a nazi helmet. 1400cc on him is probably the same thing as a 600cc on me!! hes got atleast 4 times the weight on me.

This is what he looked like. I shit you NOT. just on a busa.

2006 Ducati S2R1100 Yea.... stunttin like my daddy CHROMED OUT 1100!!!!

How come I don't have friends whose rich enough to own a 1098???

I desperately need to change my set of "friend" ;D

i admit I went from an S2R1K to my 848 so I did not have all the power of a S4R but the comparison from my bike to a 848 and a S4 to a 1098 should be comparable. Frankly if you are not stunned by how much faster it is than a Monster then you have not opened the throttle up enough. I went WOT on my Monster the 1st day I got it and it was great. I still have not gone WOT on my 848 in 1st or 2nd gear, the front end wants to climb to the sky whenever I try and I am not crazy about that.

Yes the riding position for taller riders is cramped. It is not nearly as easy to move around at slow speed. It is hotter than dog snot in summer traffic. All of those things are true, but a Ducati superbike is like an SR-71, it is not happy going slow, it wants to be screaming along and the faster and harder you go the faster and harder it wants to go. It's not for everyone. I am 5'10" and it fits me well. I may get new rearsets just because my knees are not what they once were but the ergos are not bad in my opinion.

All of this is the great thing about scooters you get what you want, I just want a bunch more of them, including another Monster.
All my best ideas get me into trouble.

I am reminded of the immortal words of Socrates when he said, 'I drank what?!'

Some people are like Slinkies ... Not really good for anything..... But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

For the record, I pinned the throtle on my buddies 1098.

please tell me that was sarcasm.

It really is not just about the power/speed; the Monsters and the SBKs are entirely different types of bikes made for entirely different styles of riding.  The best Corse (pun intended) of action would be to own one of each [thumbsup]  It's like apples and oranges.

It may have been a WalMart parking lot,,, when the store was closed  ;). Probably about the same as riding one around the block. I couldnt give a real opinion based on that.

This is a pretty funny thread.  Compare the bikes by taking them out in a set of twisties or on a track.  Taking a 1098 around the block or in a parking lot is like taking a girl on a first date and then saying you think you know enough to marry her.  ;D

I own both a S4r and a 1098s.  The differences between the two are night and day.  I love the Monster and will always own one, but as my friend says it's like riding a lawn mower compared to the 1098.
If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.
