Subtle Engine Sound Change

After my 696 went in for its 600 mile maintenance, it sounds different.  The change in the sound is subtle, but it is there.  The bike sounds almost "whinier" and more like a crotch rocket.  If set idling, and applying a little throttle, it sounds like its winding up, almost like a turbocharger sounds as it spins up.  After more throttle, it sounds normal.

Is this normal?  I am not sure why it would sound different after the maintenance...

The bike runs perfectly - starts fine, rides fine ... just sounds different.  I figured I would ask since I am paranoid about my baby!   [laugh]

They leave your air box cover off?

It's probably just psychosomatic...

Perhaps the belts are tighter?

Ask the shop what did at the service, or better yet take it in and have them listen to it.
