My best friend's brother (who lives here in Dallas) actually owns one of the ten Brittens that were made. Keeps it in his office. He's the same guy who bought a 999R so it would put him on the "first in line list" when the Desmosedicis came up for sale. Just took delivery I think. He keeps threatening to have me by his office to see the Britten. Maybe I should just show up with 20 of my DMF friends for a look see. He's a great guy, rich for sure but a true racer/gearhead. [thumbsup] Also owns a couple of Bonneville land speed records in cars (streamliners), one record is over 375mph!!!

I'd love to make this happen for all of us. 20 people drooling over a real Britten would make quite a scene and a great pic! I go dove hunting every opening day with my friend for the last 25 years and I'll lean on him to in turn lean on his brother to invite us for a look see. He's a really cool guy, came to see me at Baylor more than my own brother did! Raced open wheel cars all over. US (Indy/IRL and others), Europe, New Zealand... Has a killer collection of vintage race cars that he races at the big, annual vintage races at Laguna Seca. I think he's into vintage Alfa racers... can't remember for sure. I think if he knows you are all my friends and are into Ducatis (like he is) this could be do-able. I'll work on his younger brother (my age) over drinks at the dove hunt. I am sure Charles wouldn't mind showing off his cool s#@t to fellow Ducati rider/gearheads. [thumbsup] I'll work on it.

Awesome!  I promise not to drool all over the Britten.  Vintage Alfas on the other hand... No promises  [laugh]

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

It's closed to traffic but with speeds over 150mph  you just dont want to crash there... :-X

[thumbsup] Hey Fastwin - I'm still interested in the Britten admiration/drooling field trip if that can ever come together !  No pressure & no problem but I figured I would bump your thread as a small reminder.  If y'all didn't catch Giannis video from Isle of Man that preceeds my post - it looks like that would be a cool field trip, so would Indy !

Anyway - I doubt Britten will have an exhibit in the Auto building at the State Fair - sure would like to see one !

My personal National Holiday is the opening of dove season/Sept. 1st and only being really, seriously dead will prevent me from my annual pilgrimage to Cross Cut, TX (pop. 2 [laugh]) for Class III bullshit, beer & tequila drinking, more bs, more drinking, killer food grilled over fresh cut mesquite (hell, that's all there is out there!) and maybe some off handed potshots at dove. [drink] Hunting is only good about once every 4-5 years... who cares. Anyway, I digress (who would have thought!)... I plan to spend several hours drinking around the fire pit hassling my friend about his no good, never falls through with offers, Britten owning older brother! I think my best plan of attack is through my friend who in turn hopefully, with my encouragement (make that drunken encouragement), gives his brother enough shit that Charles will feel bad and set up a Britten visit. That's my evil plan and I am sticking to it! [evil] [thumbsup]

I'll report back to DFW/DMF headquarters after the dove hunt/drinking/bs debauchery is over. [beer]

side note: Kevin, my worthless older brother (if you have one then you know!) seriously blew me off when I tried to weasle in on any of his upcoming local day hunts. Acted like he wasn't sure if he and his boys would even get to go this season! What a bunch of crap!! As if!! Anyway, I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for any opportunities! I'll be sure to let you know if something comes up. [thumbsup]

No, I'm not "da man" but I have seen him and know what he looks like... and he doesn't look anything like me. ;D I'm as pumped as any of ya'll about the Britten sneak peak. No promises, but he said a couple of times during his hospital and home visits last year that he would call me up for lunch and a Britten gaulk and drool. Maybe he thought I was going to die and was just trying to give me hope. [laugh]

OK, I'll burn in hell for that comment. He lost his only son at the age of 21 due to cancer. He was diagnosed at 11 and had a un-freaking believably tough life until 21. He was an awesome kid, just a great person! It was the most beautiful and hardest funeral I have ever been to in my life. I couldn't even go to the post funeral, friends and family only get together. I think I cried for two days. He named his two Bonnie streamliners after his son. I felt like I lost my own son after all that, it was that tough. Life is just not fair. Gee, have a Britten or lose a son. No doubt there. God knows he'd trade everything for Rhett. Who wouldn't?

Please keep that in mind if this ever happens. Please. In honor of Rhett. [thumbsup]
