ciao a tutti -

wow, those radio folks are fast on the web-draw ... i just agreed to be on kqed's forum radio show tomorrow (tue aug 5th, @ 9am), and they already have the show agenda pasted @ http://www.kqed.org/radio/programs/forum/

Coming up on Forum:
Tue, Aug 5, 2008 -- 9:00 AM
Motorcycle Fatalities
Fatal motorcycle accidents in California have increased 60 percent in the past six years. Even as the state claims fewer car accidents, more inexperienced riders are turning to motorcycles to save on gas.
Host: Michael Krasny
Guests:
• Chris Cochran, spokesperson for the California Office of Traffic Safety
• John Clelland, president of the Northern California Ducati Owners Club
• Marissa Lenhardt, motorcycle commuter

so, if you usually listen to kqed's forum show in the am, call in and show the audience that not all motorcyclists are dumb ass hooligan no-goods. and if you don't usually listen to the show, dial in (on radio, or on the new fangled intraweb thingy) and either listen to me try and not put my boot in my mouth, or call in and say something intelligent.

a presto,
johnc

Awesome. I love forum. I usually download the shows at work, but tomorrow I'm carpooling so I'll be able to listen live. Thanks for the heads-up and congratulations.

I'll be on the bench if you need some heavy hitters. ;D Should be an interesting topic of discussion.

grazie dan ... i think you calling in and comparing riding in the city to doing a combat duty tour might be enlightening to the listeners.

btw, i might drop by the duck cave after the show, to check in on you.

a presto,
johnc

grazie remy ... call in (use a bluetooth if your driving), and offer some sage wisdom from a riders perspective.

i would really prefer NOT to speak by proxy for all riders ... having some riders call in would be molto bene.

There a transcript anywhere?
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Great job John! And I'm glad you didn't take the bait on that jerk who called in wishing us all dead.

I tried to call in, but got a constant busy.

You can get the podcast on kqed.org.

Great job this morning.  [clap] Everybody on the show did a good job bringing awareness of the real issues that motorcyclists face, and a few irate callers unintentionally brought some insight into the dangers that are out of our control and can sometimes lead to these increases in motorcycle related deaths.

Great show! After redialing for about 40 minutes, I finally got in queue, but the show ended after "Tim's" rant. Oh well...

All in all, a very good representation of the true 1% these days... the responsible motorcyclist. [thumbsup]  And like Remy pointed out, the irate callers unintentionally showed some of what we, as riders, face out on the roads. [moto]

And kudos to Marisa, for her quick witted response, "I hope your children never ride." [laugh] [clap]

I hope he never has children...

We should find out where he lives. I'll gladly jump on DESMO Q and lead a first-gear, 9000RPM parade of Ducatis down his residential street at 3 AM  [evil]

[thumbsup] [thumbsup] Did you notice the awkward silence after she said it?

Great show John!
