Gonna quit smoking & drinking...

i was a closet smoker for a good year.  and IMHO, i smoked a lot--probably because i wanted to "make up" for the time i wasn't smoking while at work, with friends and anywhere else where i was embarrassed about my habit.

i quit cold turkey by doing what others have suggested here.  i replaced the old habit with a better one, working out.  jogging/cycling is always a good sweat and i also picked up...(i could get made fun of for this)...wait for it...the perfect push up.  yes, that "navy-seal invented infomercial you can't get away from" product.  and i swear it works, plus you can do it in the comfort of your own home.  this combined with eating better/drinking less, which i think comes naturally when you start working out regularly, helped me lose 30lbs.

if you ever need a running buddy, DarkStar, hit me up.   [thumbsup]

Thanks!

I need to buy running shoes, and get the bike fixed.   :-\

When the sh!t really starts getting bad, I'll let you know.

As for today, i just tried to keep busy.  Ended up cleaning the interior of my car, it smelled like an ashtray.

We'll see how it is on monday when the drinking cut back plan starts.

Good Luck

Smoke free for 8 years now. Don't miss it but still think about it everyday.

Had to quit drinking for a few years to keep from smoking, and it just didn't taste right.

Keep busy, stay active and exercise. Thats all I got.

I did like the put it out on your arm, I might have quit earlier with that one.  [laugh]
I'll update this later at a convenient time Thank you for tuning in.....

So, it's been over a week since the last time I smoked a cigaret.  :)

I didn't end up having to use any sort of gum/tea/patch/etc.

However, not randomly having a good beer/whiskey/scotch every now and then ended up to being harder than I thought.

I figure I accomplished 1/2 of what i was going for.  I actually though quitting smoking was going to be more of the problem.  [roll]

I'll just have to make a new date to finish the 2nd 1/2 of my goal.

Gratz so far.  Try to quit one at a time it might make things easier.  [thumbsup]

I "think" I was psyching my self out for this from the start.  I "think" I knew I was not going to be able to quit both at the same time.  So as to not be a total failure, I was forced to quit one or the other.

I haven't had a cigarette in about three years. I think quitting drinking would be harder, especially because I don't think I have a drinking problem. I know I can't smoke and carry my two daughters up the hill to my house without wheezing like a broken vacuum cleaner, so that makes it easy not to light up. If you don't see a problem with booze, I can't see how it would be possible to quit it. Good job on  staying smoke free for so long  [thumbsup]

I quit smoking yesterday.

You'll have to kill me to get my booze.

I warn you...

I'm armed and grouchy. ;D
