I've tried to quit smoking twice since this thread was started.  First attempt was for about 2 months.  Second attempt was for about a month.

I FAIL.

Now, I quit smoking and drinking on a daily basis for a couple hours at a time.  [roll]

Maybe try one at a time bro...

...and sorry to steal your thread.

I'll split them if you like.

Don't worry about it, It's all good.  [thumbsup]

I just can't find a reason good enough to make me quit.  I guess personal health isn't good enough for me.

What made you quit?

I'd been smoking longer than most people here have been alive.

I want to be around for my son and T.

I was waking up every morning choking...

could barely walk across my field...

it was hard to work.

I got tired of spending almost $75 a week to poison myself.

I realize that I'm just a week in and it will always be a temptation. I really think I'm up to it.

I really thought it would be harder. I've tried before.

I guess it was time.

That's really what it comes down to, you get sick of it.  Quitting isn't hard, finding and maintaining the resolve is.

That's enough of a spiff.

Much more fun to spend that on lighting up tires.  [thumbsup]

So...

a couple of observations.

The nicotine addiction does not seem to be the problem...the nicotine leaves your body relatively quickly.

It's the brainwashing.

I was told that quitting would be hard...

that I'd be ugly...

and always want a butt.

I really don't want to smoke...if I'm standing around the thought of smoking crosses my mind, but there doesn't seem to be any real 'craving'.

I guess I'll add that I read a book to quit.

The fact I read a book is remarkable...I'm not a reader.

If you want to quit try reading...

it's working for me.
