The scene of the wreck...

Okay, finally got pics off my cell and into photobucket...

And here's the corner:

We were travelling toward the camera.  The white reflector post is the one that cleaned out the side of the bike.  You can kinda see the shading in the asphalt, just after the apex of the corner, where it dips.  Doesn't look bad from here... try hitting it at 55-60 on a sportbike.  Messed up more than one rider.

The reflector:

Dad raked the right-hand-side of the bike, coming toward the camera, which means he hit the right side of the reflector as seen in this pic... from all appearances, this reflector has been clipped by folks goin' the other way a few times as well.

The ditch Dad rode 50-70 feet down after hitting the reflector:

That's Dad in the pic.  Thank God he's alright.  He's still PO'd that he messed up his son's bike... but from my perspective it's a good thing that he's well enough to be mad about such trivial things.  Not everyday you get to cross the oncoming lane, leave the pavement at 55 mph, and still walk away.

And a small pile o' parts that had been collected from the ditch:

There wasn't much left of the fairing on the right-hand-side of the bike.

So... anyone know how much insurance buybacks usually are?  It's officially been totaled according to Beaverton Honda/Yamaha.  We're thinking replace busted mechanical stuff, buy a set of Sharkskinz, and we have a Winkelman family trackbike.  I'd rather go thrash an already totaled CBR than risk wrecking my SS while trying to get a knee down.

I've heard of buy backs in the 1500-2500 range

Uphill (barely... practically level) to the apex of the corner, slight downhill after the apex, IIRC.  It might've gone downhill just a tick before the apex.

Hmmm... for some reason the term "drunked" is too reminiscent of a Mo and Mother incident to me...  You 'boys' having tooooo much fun lately?
