The State DOT has been getting after the safety check inspectors, especially in the matter of turn signals...they must meet federal DOT regulations, which most aftermarket turn signals do not (they've got to have "DOT" on the lense).

FWIW, Stafford at Cycle Sports lost his safety check license for 90 days last year because he passed a non U.S. compliant bike.

I can testify to the fact that safety inspectors are under increased scrutiny. The DMV guys visit our shop regularly. Too many gross violations have been passed for too long, in general, on the island. I can look up the regs on bikes but I think it has more to do with passing DOT placement and visibility regs than actually having the DOT stamp. I should look that up. Most of the non complying turn signals simply are not visible in daylight hours and some are barely noticeable at night.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

IIRC, the DOT lettering on the lense indicates that it has passed federal scrutiny, insuring that the light meets the visibility regs... ;D

Nothing that high zoot.  Just some O2 eliminators and all the parts needed to do the first oil change.  This thing takes TWO filters and a screen.   [roll]

RUFKM

Ordered a set of SS Brake Tech rotors & Ferodo pads for the front.  Constant braking issues since I bought the bike so all new contact surfaces.  I like the Brake Tech design - it just makes sense from a load transfer standpoint.

Considering a BST for just the front.  Better braking/steering input. Ben any input on just doing the front?  I'm thinking that's where the most gain comes from - more bang for the buck.

So you're not going to have Domenico's do the work?  Giving up on any warranty work already?

I'm going to have them do it, but I got all the filters/seals and screen for $25 and they wanted...  Let's just say, more.  ;)

Not really sure how just doing the front would turn out.  Granted the bike will steer much quicker than it does now, but other than that I cannot say.  I was running mine with just the BST rear for a bit while the vender sorted out source problems.  I do know that the bike seemed to spin up a good but quicker with just the rear BST on it though, and it was able to lean over easier and required less "english".

The rear will also improve flickability. It applies to both front and rear, but the percentage of weight shed in the rear is higher. Also, the rear suspension can work more efficiently.

get shit on for 30 minutes before I'm paid to get shit on, deal with said shit all day up until the point they decide to aim their guns at tech code instead of me, and are suddenly quite chummy, then get out of work 15 minutes late because of a lively debate over the very same earlier shit.

kind of makes you want to be sick on a friday.

everything after that is a bit hazy.

except for the heineken light girls and their free beer samples at the shack
