749/999 rear wheel swap

OK, on the "old" board, I seem to recall somebody swapped the rear wheel on their dual swingarm Monster with a 749/999 wheel. I have a set of these, and the front is easy. Buy 749 forks and get on with your life. The rear? Not quite so easy. There were some spacer mods that were needed. Unfortunately I can't find the tech description to save my life. Does anybody recall who did that and what it took? Thanks in advance.
