i like fall the best of all the seasons. growing up in maine, we could always count on the four seasons.

snow season- 'nuff said. long and cold. Halloween to Easter, lots of holidays in this season to take some of sting out
rain&mud season - Easter to the fourth of July. great fun if your a little kid, or have a 4x4
tourist&bug season - July fourth to Labor day. we needed the tourists to feed the mosquitoes.
indian summer - Labor day to halloween. tourists gone, bugs dead. leaves turning, sunny sky. crisp days. way too short.

(when i lived in colorado, indian summer was most of the winter. but the foliage was not as brilliant

I hope it's not one of those little hand held jobbies.  You should think more in the line of this

http://www.jackhammers.com/content/electrictools/breakers/wacker_eh23.html (http://www.jackhammers.com/content/electrictools/breakers/wacker_eh23.html)

I have a garage, it's a one car and the bike currently resides there. My wife's car "might" fit witht the bike in there, but not my F150.

Also, I have a long handled scraper/brush very similar to this one:

You park the car...it's 50 degrees...

You go out in the morning...

it's 10 degrees.    :-\

I'm with DP, it's an adventure to turn your car on in the morning and have the radio blaring, high beams on, wipers going full speed - just helps me say "hello" to the big, new, beautiful day!   [laugh]  The one thing I try to remember to do is to turn the controller to HIGH DEFROST so I can make the most of my remote starter.  That's right, I'm a wimpy remote starter user, but I will never again have a car without it!!!

Unless I move to Costa Rica, of course.   ;D

Southern California.

You have very mild winters towards the coast, but a short 2 hour drive gets you into Ski Country...

i was more thinking of places that actually have a winter, not places you have to drive 2 hours to get to the snow...

i liked jackson hole... boatloads of dry powder like snow with lots of warm sunshine  8)

2 hours isn't that far. When you get tired of the snow, go back down the mountain.

But, what you're looking for can be found in Oak Creek Canyon AZ. Little town called Sedona. Red Rock country. Beautiful, but kinda expensive to live there...

I think it actually snowed today. It wasn't hail, it wasn't really ice. It was "snow" perse, but more like slowly falling crushed ice. There was a slight buildup making it look festive. Although, I had to work all day so it was kinda wasted...

precipitation in the form of ice pellets created by the freezing of rain as it falls is called sleet  ;)

Pics are coming, but today's high was 27.

I did learn something though.

Even if you won't be driving that day, it's a good idea to clear the snow off the windshield.

Apparently, the weather warmed up enough yesterday to melt just a little. Enough to put about 1/2" of solid ICE on the bottom part of my windshield. Had to start the truck (don't worry Nate, I didn't leave the wipers on) and the heat and go back inside for a bit...

resist the urge to use boiling water anywhere near the windshield of your car...

Oz, was that Presidents (or MLK?) weekend in 2003?  If so, I was up in NH that weekend taking the Winter Blues seminar also (was living in NYC at the time).  I've lived here in NH for four years now and the temps haven't dropped as low as they were that weekend in 2003.  I remember it being so cold that I worried if I slipped on the ice I would break into a thousand pieces.  ;)

I know it was before 2004 ( I remember working at another company back then ) so it very well could have been 2003. I think Eric was quite amused at my cold weather shock   :)

That was actually a fun time, I'll have to keep an eye out to see if they have them again.

I can't believe how warm it is today considering last week. Sunday was a lot of fun. We got about 3-4 inches of snow in Trumbull and we had a two hour sledding/snowball fight session with my little ones in the morning before I took them out to get their Xmas gifts for everyone else.

I really enjoy this time of year,,, Not to mention its almost time for the playoffs !!

no power at home but I do have power at the office.

the wood stove is very handy in times like these.

I wish I had bought that generator this summer I saw at a garage sale.  Looks like all the freezer contents are going to moved to the cold garage.

a local grocery store lost power and has all their dairy and meat products outside.

3 out of 5 people don't have power in NH.  things are going to get worse tonight (that's what they're saying).  all the trees are loaded with ice and the wind is picking up.  PSNH is estimating a few days.

We got our power back early Saturday morning.  Still a lot of people in town without.  When they first tried to turn the power back on, a pole down the street from us was sparking.  When I say sparking I mean it lit up the whole town.  The show didn't last long, the power went out again.  This happened 3 or 4 time before they realized what was going on.  It was like the July 4th.

I still don't have internet or TV.

just got my power back yesterday afternoon.  Lost it last Thursday, about 8:30pm.  Lucky I've got a generator.  I've got family who are being told they won't be restored until next Monday.

Merrimack, NH.  Almost the whole town lost power.  Still are several areas in town that are dark.  Monadnock area really got pounded.  They've cancelled school until the New Year.

Getting a light dusting. Sticking to hard surfaces like cars, but melting on the ground. Air temp is still technically above freezing, but that should drop around midnight. Supposed to warm up again tomorrow. That's a good thing, since my oldest daughter is flying out tomorrow from Phoenix. Non stop flight from Phx to T.F. Green. Gets in tomorrow evening and will be here through the holidays....

I live less than 3 miles from work!

I can tow 5k with my truck. That's plenty for me. It's pulled my 240SX on an auto hauler from SoCal to Phx no problem.

But, I just got back from shoveling snow outside my school. Dipshits didn't deliver any salt to throw down before it got real bad so I had about 8" of snow to shovel around the entire building. Took me and 2 other people over an hour to finish!

It was so nice of the snow plow to NOT come by today to clear the slush. It's now in the 20's and all that nice lovely slush is frozen solid, despite the fact that I threw down salt just yesterday. Thanks a lot ASSHOLE!

Guys on base did that for us last year.

We had a day or two in like late Feb where it was relatively warm and rained. All of the snow on the ground became slush and it was really easy to just slop the crap out of the way.

The guys who plow never managed to get to the barracks. Sections of the sidewalk were frozen until after Easter.

I just went out with the snowblower.  We have about 14", and 3-4" more fell in the hour an a half it took me to clear my driveway and walkways.  I'm glad it's cold so it's all powder.  I like to play in the snow, but I hope it ends soon.
