I will attempt to list every rearset that is currently available for the 696 along with photos and lowest listed price (USD).
I would like to get technical and compare the mounting height of the rearsets. Being some of the lowest stock rearsets on any streetbike I have ever ridden Those who track may want to seek a higher mounting rearset.
*regardless of whether or not the aftermarket rearsets have a passenger option the Style&Performance passenger sets can be used with any rearset. ~$200 shipped to US.
Woodcraft CFM - $440 - no passenger option
These are from what I understand the highest sitting rearsets raising 2.5" up adjustable +- 1/4"
I own these and they are awesome - perfect for the track.

Updated with dedicated photo links.
I'm really tempted to buy the woodcraft sets sue to the greatly raised height allowing much more clearance not to mention the low price but I do occasionally ride with a passenger so at the same time I am leaning towards something offering a passenger option. The fixed only footpegs are also a downside in the event that the bike is dropped. I am unable to tell if the footpeg is replaceable or is it is machined into the rearset.
Edit*
Footpegs are replaceable and a hinged version can be installed is preferred.
With the woodcrafts a pressure switch will need to be purchased separately in order for the rear brake light to light when the lever is depressed.
*This is the pressure switch that fits the 696

Doesn't the S2/4R rearsets usually bolt on to the newer Monsters?
correction. style and performance has a passenger peg set that is independent of the rider set. so you can use it with any of the sets below.

I really like the idea of those passenger sets. Any idea how they mount?
It appears that they might use the factory holes in the frame. I'll have to look closer when I get home from vacation.

This is what is listed on their primary distributor site.
VCR38GT Rearsets BLACK Monster 1100 2009 & up-- does not fit 696 model
I think the rearsets I have from S&P are the S4R rearsets they made
for the passenger set it uses the four bolts that hold the rear subframe cross brace.
Anybody know how much the S&P Passenger sets sells for?
Sato makes passengers for there rear sets. Cannot post pic, here's the site tho.

I have the Woodcraft rearsets. I wanted to get rid of the passenger pegs. I'll NEVER haul a passenger on my M1100. The pegs are bolted to the bracket from the back side; it uses a single bolt and a pin. When the bolt is loosened, the peg rotates on the bolt to several different positions giving you the position adjustment. You then line up the pin with a hole and tighten the bolt. I'm 6 foot tall and even though the Woodcraft are high, it is still more comfortable for me. Instead of my knee hitting at the junction of the frame and tank like with the stock footpegs, my knees are now in the cutouts in the tank like they should be allowing me to grip the tank with my legs.
check out www.styleandperformance.it (//http://)
they have a shop with prices.

about $200 shipped to the US direct through styleandperformance.it (just email them, their store isn't very functional).
Hopefully I'll have a set in a few days (international shipping wait time). It's going to be VERY nice to not have my girlfriend whine about not being able to get a ride ever.
She loves riding, and wants to get a bike (or scooter) soon, when she gets a licence and her finances are in order. Now the only thing that sucks, is it will be harder to take a ride, and be able to leave her home!
desmoworks can get them for around 189, but the ordering process is alittle slower
available in black, silver, or black+silver (under seat frame black and side frames silver)
Do anyone of you guys know about the ducabike rearsets, i am thinking of getting the gold ones. BTW name is dvyce and i'm new to this. Just ordered my 696 and apex fmf pipes

Typical price is ~$480 or so.

This may be a dumb question but what's the difference between a 696 rearset and an 1100 rearset? It looks to me like the mounting points are the same. Is it a shift rod thing or maybe something to do with brakes lines??? I'm asking cause I want some new rearsets, and I've put an 1100 SSS on my 696. I'm unsure which model rearset to order.

i would say it's the brake line. because nothing links to the swingarm other than the brakeline.
were you able to mount your original rearsets with the new swingarm? if so, then go with the 696 sets. but again you'll need a need brake like most likely.
would like to see photos of that conversion.
Yeah everything mounted up just fine, except for the brake line and rear caliper. I will need a longer line. I noticed the 1100 rotor is thicker then a 696 too, cause my caliper won't just slide on(brake pads too close together). Hopefully when I put another brake line on and bleed it, the brake pads will move out far enough for the rotor to slide in between. Picture posted soon...
did you measure the two rotors?
did you check the parts catalogs and confirm the two calipers are the same part #?
so, since the 696 rearsets work then either should work
The part numbers are different for both, diameter is the same for the rotor. The caliper mounting points are the same, might just need some washers to space the caliper correctly. phone pic...eagerly awaiting boomtubes [coffee]

looking pretty sweet. you should PC or paint the CW short tail black to blend better.
i can see the desire for the rearsets.
how about some smaller turn signals to disappear a bit more
also, not sure about the red rim stripes with the black and the yellow spring...
have you seen the black reflective rim stripes?

I'm not aware that there's any difference. My Rizoma rearsets started out fitted to my 696..... but transferred over to my 1100 no worries at all.
Nice job on the swingarm swap too BTW [thumbsup].

Nice wheel, did you notice an overall improvement I'm acceleration/handling as a result of the forged marchesini? I'm thinking about going the same route on my 1100.
I actually havnt gotten to ride it yet because the lack of exhaust pipes, as well as the rear brake situation I need to take care of...I need a longer brake line. I know this is getting a little off topic, but does anybody know how to fix the speedometer issue. The 1100 uses 4 magnets instead of 5 on the 696 that the speedometer reads from. So i'll be going faster/slower then what my what my speedometer says.

Definitely looks good. I am jealous of your black swingarm. I got Ducati's other version of "black" the gray kind.
actually, yeah can i get a cose up on the sub frame as well as the swingarm? is it gloss?
the swingarm is semi-matte black powdercoated
the rear subframe was sanded, smoothed and painted with the main frame Ducati PPG Red color according to the manual.

I'm new here so forgive me, but, do you intend to keep the bike like that or will you correct that? I'm hoping the latter :)
If i remember right he did that mod early this summer, no Raux?
Something tells me hes getting used to it, sort of like those home owners who start a reno then live with ongoing renos the rest of their life [laugh]
Maybe this summer some company will come out with a shorter bracket and that will fix things [wine]
The goal

The reason I'm not changing the bracket now, is that I don't want to spend the money on a shorter bracket that I will end up not using eventually. This was very inexpensive, same as the light.

Really nice!
One gripe about my Woodcraft rearsets, the brake side does not have enough adjustment for brake lever position. Even when adjusted to the maximum my foot will still ride the brake. I am forced to kick my toe out to the side or ride the brake.
Looks like yours are more comfortable in this regard.

Being 2.5" higher than stock, riding with the ball on the peg can get fairly uncomfortable for any type of extended time.

The exhaust is so damn loud people roll up their windows and plug their ears when I ride next to them.
Thought I'd breathe some life into this thread. Ordered a set of the black/red Metal Tech rearsets, along with a set of black folding pegs, from the very responsive and friendly folks at Commonwealth. There's only one picture I can find - anywhere - of the black / red Metal Tech rearset, and it isn't even mounted on the bike...
My 696 is red with the black frame, and I'll post some pics once they're installed. I think they're going to look awesome.

Nice, looking forward to the photos.
The metal tech pieces look like quality stuff.
A couple guys on here have them, never heard any complaints.
What is your solution for the rear brake light, or does metal tech have a mount for the pressure switch?

The Metaltech / Metal-Tech / Metal Tech (heh) rearsets appear to have provisions for the pressure switch. If they don't, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. :)

Squeeeeee! Should have these installed in the next few days. So stoked.

I just ordered these and plan on installing them this weekend. Can someone tell me about how long it took and if it was difficult at all. I know Rizoma is notorious for their terrible instructions.
Raux, or anyone else that has the S&P passenger pegs, can you measure the distance from the seat (pillion area) to the pegs? I'm curious if the S&P pegs give the passenger more, less, or the same amount of leg room.
Speaking of passenger pegs, does anyone know of the M1100 EVO passenger pegs will fit the M696 or M1100?
Hi,
for the EVO rear pegs you will need the Evo rear frame and find a way to get your exhaust out of the way.
Wife says the pegs sit higher

So less leg room...bummer. Thanks for checking, Raux!
Anybody have good, installed pictures of the CNC Racing, Ducabike, or MetalTech rearsets?
Bringing back an old thread here...
Anyone put the evo rearsets on a 696/1100? Looking to clean up the footrests, dont need passenger pegs or adjustability.
Parts look common on all monsters except the bracket and heel guards so all in $340 in parts. So cheaper than the aftermarket alternatives but you're getting less parts, adjustability and bling factor. I put together a parts list to order but havent pulled the trigger. Leftside plate (824.1.179.1A) and heel guard (460.1.449.1A). Rightside plate (824.1.178.1A) and heel guard (460.1.450.1A). Any thoughts?
go on ebay and find an evo owner selling it off
True. Unless I can find them cheap I may just go with the Woodcrafts since they're not that much more money and readily available at my local shop. How difficult are these to install? Do they come with decent instructions (w/ pictures :))?
I've spent some time at the local dealer staring at the 1100evo rearsets as an affordable change.
What I noticed was the 1100evo rearsets mount the brake master cylinder in a ~vertical position. Stock 696 'rearsets' have the master cylinder horizontal.
Consequently, I think you need to change the brake pedal and hose between the master cylinder and reservoir as well (and perhaps the push rod between the pedal and master cylinder).
The concern I had is that the new master cylinder position may actually contact the double sided swing arm on the 696. I haven't heard of anyone actually doing this conversion yet and don't know if it is a real issue or not. I don't have parts on hand to measure b/c I would be really interested to know.
S&P passenger sets.

I REALLY want a set of these! I cant stand the chicken wings they have stock. I think these with a rizoma rearset would be great!
that's what I have.
but seriously thinking about converting the bike to solo duty, and working on a custom tail/seat

That's enough to spook me off the conversion. More parts to swap more money also, which makes the aftermarkets more attractive.
Anyone have an easy solution for the brake light using Woodcrafts?
pressure switch from yoyodyne $20
Hello.
I would like to add some rearsets I have not seen on this thread.
j4race (world wide web dot j4race dot com) are making rearsets for Ducati (M696 included) at a pretty nice price.
A drawback for me on the j4race is that the foot pegs do not fold (I think my local regulations demand this).
valtermoto (world wide web vcomponents dot it) have a few kinds for the monster (and others), street, race, adjustable, folding, etc, and not too expensive.
Bye, have fun.
Mark.

I believe this fits the 696.
Thanks, noted for when I pickup the Woodcrafts.
Anyone else notice that the non-evo peg bracket (one piece) prevents rotation of your foot, while pivoting ball of foot on the peg, because your heel jams the bracket? The bracket itself bows up and out to the passenger peg which seems to be causing the issue, that and the fact that its huge. To compensate Ive been resting my heel on top of the bracket itself, this is the only way I can rotate my foot (on the ball) on the peg. Real solution is swapping them out with aftermarket rearsets.
Does anyone have experience or info on the JRrace.com rearsets? They look to be of high quality and sell on their website for ~$300 in basic matte black. The problem is their website sucks; you cant send them an email or even order the damn things. Anyone?

They look nice enough, but are missing the rubber vibration damping bushings (three on each side).
The price for a set suitable for your bike isn't ~ 300 - it's more like 470 plus shipping.

really? it says 229 Euro on the website = ~$300 for the basic black.
That's for a model that won't fit.
Click on mini picture # 5.
(no, I don't know why they do that)

Looking at the instructions for install, it notes that the rear brakes will no longer work without modification? Can someone clarifY?
How long will it take to install roughly? Any complications anyone notices?
