Venturing to places I'm not supposed to be (tons of pics)

Took the 450 supermoto out for a whoopin yesterday and ended up at some abandoned buildings that i was able to slip into and grab some pics.

The first few are of this (what I think is) incinerator about 2 minutes from my house.

The rest of these are from the old Avtex building.  They made fabric (rayon I think) and the facility is huge.  Now it's split up into an industrial park that houses multiple businesses.

I have no idea what these things are, but they're concrete "bowls" maybe 125' across with walls about 8'.  There is a drain trough that runs around the circumference on the outside.  Holding tanks for water?  There is no evidence there was ever a roof to cover them.

There are 3-4 small buildings near these "holding tanks" and all I can guess is that they're valve control stations.  All these buildings and tanks are located probably 1/8 mile from the main industrial complex.

I happened to notice moss and brush covered steps behind one of them when I was stashing the KTM to go take pics.  Of course it looked like I could fit up the steps through the brush tunnel (still wearing my helmet)  What I found at the top was another building I didn't even know was there and more holding tanks (square ones and smaller though)

Bike stashed out of the way.  The steps were behind this building and the following pis are of it's interior.

I wasn't about to go down those steps.  The bottom was full of (who knows how much) water and a fall here could put me in big trouble.

No idea why this is still here.  Probably no better place to put it.  Im guessing it was built in the 50's or maybe 60's judging by the look of the gages.

Part of the main plant

Where I like to practice wheelies [evil]

No idea what these are/were for but they're like silos, but much taller and made of concrete.  There are 4 of them clustered together.

Super fun day!

very cool.  We don't have stuff like that out here so it always fascinates me.  We tear everything down and build strip malls, mostly.

I found this through a quick search based on the name stamped on that hatch(?) in the floor:

If I had someone with me I might have.  But still, once you're at the bottom of the steps that's it.  Unless you want to swim.

It'd be a cool picture from down there upward though.

Well haul that smc out here and let's go
Probably have to ride out, so I'd plan on forcing you to have a house guest for a night or two.
Doesn't sound as though you have a weekend free for entertaining for awhile though.

Sounds possibly like the makings of a sumo/dual sport related gathering.

Its easier for me to skip weekends if I'm here so no problem if you want to come out and stay for 2-3 days.

On road stuff I have covered. Dual sport stuff I'm not so knowledgeable in.

We should post up some pics of our bikes in industrial/abandoned locations. Something about the mechanical nature of our bikes (especially the Monsters) and worn and/or old places... just goes well together.

Sorry if this feels like a threadjack... just got on the thought of the bikes in unexpected places, and wanted to share.

You might have discovered the old ACME secret research lab. Was the Coyote there?  ;D

Mine would certainly fit the bill and it makes new buildings look old as it passes on its aura.

Had someone ask me on Friday if I regularly ride through salt water.  [laugh]

Nice pics, reminds me of a page about a Ukraine rider who frequently rides through the Chernobyl area. I think its called ghost town. I don't like to dwell on the dark, but that whole scenario fascinates me.

I would give Lethe's right arm to ride through Chernobyl [drool]
