Grease, they were surprisingly good.  AFAIK, they're original.

1992 900 SS, currently a pile of parts.  Now running
                    flogged successfully  NHMS  12 customized.  Twice.   T3 too.   Now retired.

You have tapered rollers in yours...right?

Mine were hammered at about 18K.

Yup.  If I had new ones I would have put them in, but they cleaned up and look/act fine

talking bout bearings, can I lift the bike by the frame sliders? so that I can take the bearings for maintenance . . .

Better to pull the tank, put it on a rear stand and lift from the front of the frame, or jack it up under the motor.
