I'm not near any border...

I'm almost at the exact center of the state...it's less than a mile from here.

I had a certified organic farm in the past and usually have a home garden now. I didn't grow anything here the past couple of years due to the house build, but I worked a piece up the road that I helped a friend with. It did OK.

We're raising a few ducks for eggs. I wish they'd start laying.

I know a few people in your situation, so have had this discussion a few times.  TX and NH are always on the list, but other considerations have been OR, CO, ID, and NC, for various reasons.

We are looking for a free'er state..
Site below has a nice map where you click a "freedom" (eg economic, tax, property rights, marriage, etc) and states change color based on rank.

If rain falls on your land it's yours. It's very different from western states.

Yeah, they come and confiscate the rain right out of my grass here. Sons of b1tches!

I wasn't necessarily referring to Cali. There are some states where you can't collect rain that falls on your roof. You have to allow it to enter the groundwater and end up in a river that someone owns the rights to.

Yeah, I was just making fun of what looks like a truly ludicrous idea.

It's truly ludicrous to those that have to buy water for their livestock when a river runs through their property.

It's also truly amazing that this thread has stayed on the ride side of getting political thus far.  If we make it to page three, I'm buying everyone a round!   [beer]

Yeah, me too.  I spent 30 straight minutes at work playing with that site and thinking about my life choices past and future.  Cokey might not be the only transient in 8 months.  Hmmm, does Austin have good sushi?...winter in Idaho can't be that bad, right?...

I moved out of NY in 2000 and moved to NH.  NH has seen a lot of changes since, especially in the past six years.  Most of the changes aren't for the better and the changes are politically driven.  And that's where my pissing and moaning will end.  But if you look at your options, NH is still a good place to raise a family.

cokey,  I'll try to pm you.

My hmmm didn't mean I went to the website. It meant "how funny is it that some political threads are allowed and some arent."

Posting a link doesn't make the thread political.

The discussion of the material on the site might.

The statement that Obama is the president is simply a fact. Discussing his policies or your opinion of them is what isn't allowed...

and you know that.

Stirring today?

That's exactly what I said 15 years ago.   And I never looked back.    ;D
