Saw it the first time around too. And many, many times since.  It was a time piece, I don't think it's as great as when I first saw it and yes, Fonda was nowhere as good as Nicholson or Hopper.

The triumph one "its comfy" cracked me up.  My buddy that has triumph never fails to mention about that to everyone.
620M 2004 Dark i.e.; ~ 57K miles (all me);  Looking to swap out engine now.
Triumph Speed Triple 2006 (now ~ 44K miles bought @ 4K miles on 04/2010)
Honda Grom 2015 ~ 3500miles so far.  Love this lil bike

Finally dug it out and watched it again... my initial 'meh' thought still stands.

Fonda isn't a pussy... he's the Enlightened One, vs Hopper's spooled up twitchy paranoiac spaz.

Just like The Big Lebowski isn't a bowling movie (rather... a weed movie featuring some bowling...) Easy Rider isn't a motorcycle movie...  ;D
