Is there a universal 14t or do I need to get the Ducati branded one.   I just set up my service appointment and am guessing it might take some time to get the ducati branded one in, if they don't have it.

you dont have to. But the price difference is really not much. The renthal sprocket i put in was somewhere in the  $45-49 range. The one from ducati is about $60 if I am not mistaken.

I got the more expensive Afam for $43 from my local stealership.

Got a 14T JT front sprocket from CA-CYCLEWORKS.com for $23 + shipping. Put it on myself, no problems (except having to get a set of big metric sockets). I was worried I might have to also rent an impact wrench to get the stock 15T off but it came off easily.
My mileage has been impacted - slightly worse but I ride alot on the highway so I still average about 50mpg. Around town it helps riding slow without bucking i.e School zones, rush hour.
