pegs of a zx6r on the track.  rider error.   fixed body position and went much faster with much more clearance.

My wife's '01 has high-mount exhaust, so I'm guessing pegs would be the first to scrape.

Yea, once you change out the pipes the pegs are the 1st thing down ~

OP, what were you riding?  I "polish" the corner of my right exhaust can relatively regularly.  It's the kickstand nub that I don't like to grind.  I guess I should look into raising my suspension height or something.

+1....this is why I started hanging off the seat. I was dragging hard parts too often while sitting upright in the seat, so now I hang off and rarely drag anything other than a knee. In my wife's situation, though, she is physically incapable of sliding off the seat, so she is limited by the bike's ground clearance while sitting upright.

Stock foot pegs drag a lot... just get some race rear sets... and it usually cleans up that issue.  What's wrong with another costly mod anyway? Its supposed to be modded.  [thumbsup]

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

ODrides - I'm riding a 696.

I checked it out again this morning, and it looks like it was actually the kickstand that dragged.  The kickstand on the 696 doesn't really have a knob, but it looks like it dragged on the side of its foot.

This makes me want to work on my form and hanging off.

Besides the obvious risk involved in taking a corner that hard, how dangerous is it when you drag a part?  I felt afterward like I had been on the verge of dumping, but then again this was my first time scraping.

Dragging a hard part can cause weight to come off one or both of the tires (hard part carries some of the weight load that gives you traction) and cause you to lose traction ~

I'm a in drag

fixed  ;) (I keed, I keed)

I've dragged my toe and peg on my monster once.

And on the sumo, I drag my feet a lot. Of course, I stick my foot out intentionally, so it doesn't really count.

I've dragged the foot peg on my 696 going around the round-about on campus.  You don't have to lean over too far to get the stock rearsets to drag on it.

Yeah.... I've drug footpegs, kickstands, exhaust parts, and feet. If you aren't realizing how hard you are pushing it, it will definitely startle you. On the Monster I have to be particularly mindfull of my feet. Make sure I'm on the balls of my feet. If I don't I grind the outter edge of my boot everytime. Be careful, also if you set up for the corner and get off the bike a little(like gp riders) your bike will remain more up right through the corner adding additional cornering clearence. Not neccessary for relaxed riding but fun to practice. I also find if you overcook a corner as you described, it's easier to haul it over farther if you're already in position so you're not upsetting the bike midturn by trying to save it. Good riding technique is something that should be practiced every ride.

BTW, Bad ass shot Capo  [thumbsup]

I've dragged the pegs, exhaust, handlebars, swingarm, tank, back protector......  ;D

I've dragged a sidestand nub on the street.  I was relatively new and it made me stand up the bike mid-turn and run off.  Grind that godda*m f'n piece of sh*t off.   >:(  I've dragged low-mount cans on a DSS monster on the track.  I've dragged footpegs on the track with my racebike.  That's pretty scary cuz the pegs are fixed and it levers your tire off the ground.  It's a lowside cuz waiting to happen.   As for crashing, I've dragged myself and pretty much every hard piece on a motorcycle at one point or another.  I once dragged DanTheMan's entire bike underneath mine (he may have been in the mix too).
