Well I guess I'll ride my S2R until I get tired of it and then forget about Ducati.   :'(

I was chatting with the dealer the other day and we discussed the new 1100.  I told him I hated the 696 style.  Conversation ended at that point..and we started to discuss Triumphs.

Oh well.  All good things must end.

What I don't understand is why go with a similar, but not the same sss as the 1098? It would cost them less money and it looks better than this thing. I don't hate the bike, but I don't like it. I won't be buying it, especially considering I got a similar bike (2006 S2R1K bought in 2007) for $5000 less OTD....

I can't vote since my opinion isn't represented. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either....

I have come to terms with the fact that the 696 at the shop looks better in person then any pics I have seen.  The single sided swingarm on the 1100 helps, as does the engine.  But I just can't get past the frame, half frame, whatever.  I look at the front section (trellis?) and it now looks gimicky.  Like it has no actual function except to look like the older frames.

the thing is... the 916 body.. and the original monsters... are classic styles that will look awesome in twenty years.... the newer models will look good now, ( that is if you even like them now) but that will fade as they become out dated. i would go with a classic as a pureist... but that does not take away from the fact that the newer models have their place...

Thinking about getting one but swapping with s4/r 916 and 748 is a big gamble. Going to wait to at least next year to think about it. Like it a lot but can I give up the old school.

Hate it like the 696, cause what they have changed (SSSA, frame, motor, suspension) doesn't address the fact that I just plain don't fit on a 696.

All well and good to base decisions on photos, but I like to enjoy riding what I buy, and I have to enjoy it in all days, not thinking "damn, I wish they'd made that tank a bit narrower" or "why the make the beast with two backs didn't they put some padding around where the trellis meets the cast subframe, cause my knee is make the beast with two backsing sore from locking into that when I'm up on the balls of my feet when riding on a nice twisty piece of road".

Ignoring everything else, the ergos are why it's not going to be a bike for me.

I don't know if I'm just getting more accepting, or if it's my nature to adjust to some kind of equilibrium. When it first came out, I didn't really like the design. Then I saw it in person and didn't really hate the design. Now, with SOOOOO many people expressing what comes close to apocalyptic disdain for this new Monster, I am starting to actually like it. I like the old one better mind you, but I still like this one in as much as I like Brutales and Bimotas.

Lose the rear sets and put on some carbon fibre Termi's and it would look a lot better. I'm looking forward to what the new Mulitstrada looks like though.

I really do not mind the looks too much ....... really............
Problem is I tried a 696 and the tank and seat area were a horrible fit. My legs were riding on a ridge on the tank and where the old tank was not the most comfortable to ride without a cup the 696 was all but impossible. I have not been on a more uncomfortable ducati and that counts the superbike range. The last bike I rode that fit me that poorly was a Moto Guzzi monster wanna-be, Ducati must have hired the designer.

who knows maybe this bike is different.
