I`m finally getting my boat ready. I know summer is over but who cares, fishing season is under way and I`m on the hunt for that cow bass.
Going to Orient Point Sat to get some Jumbo porgy`s, hit the start of Blackfish season, and try to grab a nice bass.

I am Waiting on a call when the bass hit Montauk to go fishing myself.

Can't wait.

Oh BTW if you think that was bad go check out the old board.

That place is like a ghost town.

I try not post up so much anymore cause I feel like I along with the rest of the US's dominate this place, makes me think that this isn't appreciated. Whether this is the case or not, I don't know but I've been busy lately researching snow mobile and dirt bikes rentals for us to do during the winter time when it's too crappy out to ride (although it's gotta be VERY crappy out for me not to ride). Oh, and we'll be go carting a lot this winter too.

As far as I am concerned, post all you want.  If the US dominates it is due to inactivity from the rest of us.

Much in disregard to my normal character, I haven't had much to say of late.

Guess with the season winding down, and lots of projects going on in the house, I'm not doing much on the bike front.

It's always good to stop in here and see what the U.S.'s are up too though.
Just think of your posts as filling the uncomfortable silense in the room.

Perhaps we DMLer's could make a point of attending the DESMO Christmas party this year, sort of a sustitute for Hiram's during the cold season?

Hope you all get out and use these last days of nice weather to get in those quality rides.

I don't necessarily agree with that, I've certainly been frustrated with the amount of exclusive conversation/events that get posted here. Worst of it is the "check your PMs" posts that just piss me off. That's part of the reason I don't really post here anymore because I don't feel like it's NYMMC, I feel like it's the US board. I'm probably in the minority however and I'm known to be a sandy mothermake the beast with two backser so I doubt other people take it personally and I know it's not intended that way but I certainly think it's been way too much in the past. Thing is, of the US people I know, I like them, they're good guys. I enjoy reading the ride reports I just find it pretty rude that all the announcements and a lot of the discussion becomes exclusionary for other members because we don't know the inside references, we're probably not going to be able to join the ride (numbers or being an unknown) and we can't really involve ourselves in the conversation because it feels awkward. I personally think that the US traffic has had a chilling effect on the conversation but it's a chicken & egg argument really and I'm clearly not an objective observer so I could just be speaking shit. It started on TOB & I was posting on TNB until it started here but I just didn't want to deal with it.

Anyway, as I said, I like all the guys and wish I could ride with them (might be nice) but while my bike is now 100%, conveniently the year is winding down and I'm probably going to be out of town for the next month or so for work.

So, in summary, please ignore my opinion because I'm not around, I won't be around and I'm a grumpy mothermake the beast with two backser anyway.

Wow man..  it doesn't need to be like that.  I'd be stoked if other people posted up their stories or other random stuff.  No one is excluded from US rides...  it's more like no one else wants to go.  As far as dominating the board goes, it's more like being bored at work - wishing you were out riding with your friends with no offense or exclusion intended.

Like I said, I don't think anyone excludes anyone deliberately on this board. Actually, people *are* excluded from rides. Usually they're a set number which happens to coincide with the number of US people there are. There are good reasons for this which I completely understand but that doesn't make them inclusive, they're by definition exclusive if not anyone can go and non US people only get to go on most of them if one of the US doesn't go. If you disagree, that's fine, I don't think there's much point in arguing about it.

I looked at my earlier post and realized that I spoke for others which I shouldn't have. What I'm saying here is my opinion alone. I don't feel welcome to join US rides. I don't feel like I'm included in US conversations. I don't feel like I'm included when I see posts like "US check your PMs!".

I want to say this very clearly however: I'm not saying you should stop. If it's just me that has a problem with this then I'm the odd one out. I'm just expressing my opinion on something that's been bothering me for months, if not longer.

I'll go back to not posting again now, venting is good for the soul. :-X

Wow Evil, I wished you would've said something earlier to any one of "US" as I/we certainly didn't mean to put you or anybody else off of any of the forums. The irony of it all is that whenever I post up for a group ride, the ONLY people that want to come are the other US's and a tiny handful of other NYMMC folks - 4 or 5 at the very most. Why? I have no idea... Maybe folks feel the same as you and don't like us, maybe they think our rides are balls out testosterone crash fests, or maybe they're just shy. I don't know.

From what I can tell based on the activity on the board, we are the ones that ride the most. As such, we have the most stories to tell and share and also have more of the "inside jokes" since we were all there on the rides to experience them. If more NYMMC'ers came out with us on a regular basis, then the less "inside" our postings will seem. My ideal number of rider's in a group would be 4, but that never happens anymore because US or not, the rides fill up fast and I end up pulling 10-13 people around all day. And while there are 7 or 8 of "US", it's rare for all of us to be out at any one single time, in fact, I don't think it's ever happened.

Steve - I can see your points, but I think that GC covered most of them in his response above. I'd like to hear your reasoning for the above quote b/c I feel that in respect to other forums, we're pretty inclusive about our rides. We almost always post up & we never exclude even based on skill level (where a lot of ride post ups do). If you can't ride all Sunday (most folks can't) then a US ride is not for you. Does that mean you're excluded? No, that means you have conditions that prevent it from being feasible. That's not a US exclusionary tactic. Also, you of all people should know you're more than welcome to any of our rides no matter how full they are.

Everyone has different reasons for missing rides, i wouldn't say most of us see it as crash fests, i know i don't.  Personally when i can't make it its because a) money is tight at the time and i cant afford to ride all day, or b) i have prior obligations and that's about it.  I think that long all day rides just aren't meant for everybody and it can be intimidating.  I'll admit my first US ride i was extremely nervous riding as long as i did.  But every time i look at that i think holy shit 700miles and 22hours of riding? DAMN!  Of course when you hit those twisties your mind escapes everything and all your focused on is the next corner not how long you have been riding or how much longer you are going to ride.  Thats just for the slab home  [roll]

GC, I specifically said I like all you guys (that I've met), it's not a personal problem with any of you.

I wanted to make the point (after you said something about it) that part of the reason I didn't post was because of this. I'm not saying I'm representative of other people on this board at all.

My reasoning (not saying I disagree with these points in and of themselves):
Limited number of people on the ride (usually you guys say 6 I think)
Defaults to whichever US people can make it
Free spots go to first in best dressed
Rides are very long
Initially you guys stipulated full leather
Rides were to places where many monster riders wouldn't make it between gas stations
Rides are all day
etc.

My skill level is such that your pace & distance aren't a problem, riding all day isn't an issue for me, even at the pace you guys run.

My personal experience has been that, I either have to make it to the initial meet point or I don't get to join you guys because you don't know where you'll be. So, that means that I need to be somewhere in BK at 6:30-8:30am to go on a ride that'll get me home some time in the early morning. The most frustrating experience for me has been that, on the occasion (this year) when I had a free day, my bike was good to go and I was willing to ride 2 hours to just get to the meet point, the route was organized after I'd said I was interested such that there's no way in hell I could come on the ride. It was going to be 4 hours on the slab to just meet up. I've ridden with you guys once, earlier on in the piece. It was a fun ride but, for whatever reason, even when you're riding by my house and even when I'm willing to be somewhere to meet up we still can't get it together so I gave up. Like I said, I don't think my experience is representative but that doesn't make it an invalid POV.

The fact is, I don't really have anyone to ride with anymore, most of my riding friends have stopped riding or, for whatever reason, haven't been able to ride. For me, it's been really difficult to spend a lot of time on the bike thanks to various circumstances including getting it fixed up (most of that was waiting for parts) and honestly, riding by yourself for 4 hours is fun but the joy of sharing a great ride with friends is something I really miss. So, I went skydiving instead, mainly because I didn't have the choice. Fact is, I normally put 10-12k on a bike in a year, that's just weekend riding. This year I've done 3k.

Basically, I was so frustrated by the fact that we can't get a ride together I stopped bothering. That wasn't what made me have a problem with the US traffic on the board though, that just made it worse and hence why I don't really post.

I feel I need to say this again, you guys are all good guys and that's part of the reason it bums me out.
