If I have somewhere to put it, sure I'll take it off but I'm not going to leave my jacket on my bike or carry it around awkwardly because I'm afraid somebody will think I look like a poser.

To answer the original question as directly as possible:

When I ride to wherever I'm going, I have no prob walking around in my moto jacket.  Especially if it's cold.  It's not like a brought an extra winter jacket or fashion jacket with me to change into.  [roll]  It ain't poseurish to wear your jacket if the motorcycle is the mode of transportation you're using for that outing.

When I drive the cage (or walk, or ride a bicycle), I do not wear either of my moto jackets.  That's total poseur, IMO.

However... there are always exceptions and counter-examples.  Last week I had a rather haute woman ask me if I had ridden (I was wearing my vintage-look A* jacket, but my helmet was out of sight).  When I said yeah, of course, I don't wear the moto jacket unless I'm riding, she replied that she asked because she would wear one all the time... had nothing to do with style, either... she loves the feel a heavy moto jacket has, makes her comfortable (keep in mind, it was a cold fall night when she said this).

I think there is a gender issue with this question... a woman can get away with wearing things a guy could not in the same context.   G could absolutely wear an armored riding jacket to a bar if we drove in the truck.  I'd never dream of it.

What if you took the Armor out of it for the night and it didn't have a bunch of writing and just a couple of small Logos on it ?  Dolph

woudlnt that just make it a regular jacket  then? lol.

I think that chick who said she would wear one all the time was refering to harley type jackets. leather with no armor.  kinda like Jet Pilot jackets. Those vintage looking A* jackets arent really that bulky and full of padding AFAIK. She might of not seen the armor. my JR jacket makes me look like a linebacker with freakishly large elbows.

The topic on hand is, would you wear one when you leave your bike at home.

In the window of a Puma store in Beverly Hills, they have manequins dressed up in "motorcycle-style" jackets wearing Ducati clothes and Puma shoes.  They even sell the Ducati clothes in the store.  They are trying to make the motorcycle jacket fashionable.  Go figure.

I wear my motorcycle jacket everyday that it's cold enough to need a jacket. It's my favorite jacket. It's water proof, wind proof, and I've done it for 3 years now. It looks like a normal black jacket. You would never guess that is has armor in it either. I don't wear my leather jacket unless I'm out on the bike though. If your wearing a bike jacket as a fashion statement, meh...then yes, you might be posing. Even then, to each his own.

I'd pimp one of my low key jacket WITHOUT the armor. If it looks and feels well with what activity I'm doing and the weather calls for it I could care less what other people think.  8)

i want this jacket. It loosk like a normal jacket with the armor, without the armor, its just a wikid looking jacket.

Mostly because i cant afford a winter jacket. (ive never had a winter jacket before in my whole life, even if its -10 outside, its undershirt, main shirt, sweather, windproof jacket + suck it up) Plus i want to try skiing this year and i could triple it as a skii jacket!!!

I find my ducati jacket to be a little uncomfortable when my arms are straight, but perfect when they're bent. my rev'it mesh jacket feels good all the time, but is so light weight I'd have to be high to want to wear it for warmth.

My roommate used to wear a jacket that looked almost exactly like that except that it was corduroy.

I've played hockey in my Technik jacket before, so no;  I'm not going to drive the stock 95 Ford Probe to Red Lobster on a tuesday night with my crash jacket on.  It's for riding only and it shows.  Now the Brooks Leather jacket I've been drooling over forever.........

I agree, I love my Spidi on my bike, but it's fit isn't made to stand straight up with your arm's by my side.

To answer the question, I only wear my riding jacket when I ride.  I will wear it in and out of where I am going (but I also carry my helmet).   Where ever I feel comfortable enough to park my helmet is where I park my jacket.
I work with a guy that will go as far as wearing his HD jacket and chaps to work when he drives his truck.  One could only assume he has some size issues!

All I have is my bike  as transportation so I wear my jacket... well all the time when I am out and about.

I rarely lock it to my bike but I do have a nice Rhino Lock so I have done that before.

I do feel strange about it at times though.

I can't believe there are two pages on this topic.  Wear whatever you want whenever you want.  If your jacket is comfy (mine isn't) for casual wear, wear it all the time.  And if someone gives you shit for it, screw their sister.  While wearing your jacket.  ;)
