Can we mod the .17 to be better suited for me if you're not gonna use it?

A .270 will handle anything you're after in Oregon, Mother.  Sell the .17.  Buy a .270 and a .22 for squirrels.

oooo damn... you know some peeps to varmint shoot with Mother?

I have a NEF single shot in .204ruger.  39gr bullet travels at over 4200 feet per second with my hand loads... accurate as hell... wind is a factor though.

also have the good ol AR and win. 30 30 lever action

Any experience or opinions (well-founded or merely entertaining) on the Beretta 92 series of pistols? My favorite local shop just got a 92FS in that appears to be in excellent shape and what seems like an attractive price (the owner hasn't put a tag on it yet, but says it'll be around $350).

I've only shot one once, twenty years ago or so, when I was a Capitol Hill aide & the Marines would take us down to Quantico to shoot the stuff they wanted our bosses to vote to fund. Good times.

Its not a forum about alcohol either but there's a plethora of threads about that.  [beer]

the 92's are decent after Beretta got the kinks worked out.  there is no surprises with them, they are reasonably well designed and a solid 9mm platform.

they are not my favorite, i like some of Beretta's more "exotic" stuff (like the Cougar which has a rotating barrel instead of the Browning style lockup)

but they are good guns.

$350 is a decent price depending on condition

yup...

It's all about unfair moderation.

um. ok.....

anyways, for the gun people, educate a newb please. If he gets a .270, what will it be like compared to the HMR .17 he has now (more specifically weight and recoil)? Or is it completely dependent on a ton of other factors? Just wondering if its gonna be a gun I could handle too.
