He has improved tremendously. They removed the ventilator and added a trache. (or how ever you spell it) and he's breathing primarily on his own. He actually may have responded to external stimulation yesterday. (he squeezed his girlfriend's hand and she asked him to move his thumb and he did)

Thank you all for your well wishes and donations, it means the world to his family.

-Awesome news!!!   :D  Prayers and a speedy recovery to him....

-I lost a close friend last year who was hit on his 900ss by an SUV crossing the center line, so I know it's never easy when a friend goes down....

Sounds like he's already battling back which is excellent, let's pray he returns to 100% ASAP !!

Another update on Mase:

He ended up with a blood clot in his right thigh yesterday which was pretty scary. They put him on blood thinners and put a filter in before he goes into surgery again. His ICP (intracranial pressure) was spiking but is really low today.

He's doing better than ever, the clot was a little scary but it looks like he'll be ok.

Thank you all!!

Hurts to hear, and right near my old hometown.

Strong good vibes to you, Mason, and glad to hear there has been good progress.

Once again, thank you very much for all your kind words and donations, it means a lot to me and I know it will mean a lot to Mase.

Quick update:

Today when I went to see him, his eyes were wide open and he was blinking and moving his eyes around. I more than halfway expected him to look over and just start talking. He still appears to be "not quite there" though. I don't know if he's still classified as comatose, I was unable to speak to any of his doctors.

I went to his bedside and stroked his hair a little bit, talking to him. He actually moved his eyes over as if he were looking at me. He moved his mouth like he wanted to say something, and he was trying so hard to speak. Despite that, he is still catatonic. When his eyes are open they are glazed over and he doesn't really focus them on anything. But I'm happy to say he was looking at things and seemed to be trying to talk all afternoon.

He is SO CLOSE, so close, and yet so far still. I want him to wake up so badly and he seems almost ready to do so.

On a more medical note, he still has small hemorrhages in his frontal lobe which they are concerned about, but his last CT showed no damage to his brain stem, which made us all breathe a big sigh of relief.
