Sporting clays is a blast, worth getting into for the fun of it..........

Better to buy and inexpensive O/U would cover everything you need for both sports....

I sort of burned out on trap, but I like skeet and sporting clays.  I take pistol and rifle real serious and shoot sporting and skeet for recreation.  My wife and I like to shoot sporting at several of the clubs around the state.  I started working at a trap club when I was about 15 - spent a lot of time sitting in a trap house setting birds on the arm and trying to keep my fingers.

O/U would only be two shots though, right?

Thanks : I am going to see if I can find a used dillon on Ebay, The 650 sounds like my Ponsness Warren hydraulic, it took some doing but once I got it dialed in with all the bugs out of it is a great loader.  Sometimes I think it is a game trying to get them to work as the factory should deliver them.  My wife and I used to shoot 30 thousand trap birds (clay) a year and could not have afforded it without the PW.  Anybody shoot  trap or sporting clays?

I love to shoot Trap.  Sporting Clays is a humbling experience when tried with a pump.  My trap gun is a Winchester Model 12 Trap.  Fell into it for a song and it fits me like a glove.

Trap, skeet and sporting clays are two shots max anyway, except for flurries.  Pump guns are fine for sporting clays but a trap M-12 with a full choke will definately give you some problems on most sporting courses.  I usually run Improved Cylinder or Skeet for most sporting courses unless they have some longer shots.

Depending on how its set up, 5 Stand is a real fun shotgun game - very fast paced with a huge variety of shots and angles.

Sounds good but unless your shooting doubles in trap it is a single, and no more than two for S/C.  Although if you get to no the guy who is running the range you can have a lot of fun with an 8 shot Benelli shooting rabbits.....

Man yea that brings back a few memories of sitting in the trap house all day for the privilage of shooting a free round.

Trap burned us out all together, we were getting close to beating the big dogs and winning enough to pay for our shooting but that turned it into work.  And work sucked the fun out of it.  Even with an all american for a couch (Kay Ohye)  we could not make it work.  But it was fun while it lasted.......

Nothing more fun that sporting clays and a pump gun, It makes you screw in and usually you end up shooting better.  My favorite  for fun is a model 42 Winchester.  You are either on or off, no in between.

In Wisconsin, shooting trap is just another excuse to drink beer.  My local gunclub sells more beer on league night than all the taverns in town put together.  (if you understand the number of taverns per capita in WI, this is an accomplishment)

Pretty much why I don't shoot trap anymore.

Sporting Clays with a pump 410 will really separate the men from the boys - thats tough!

One of my sporting guns is a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon in 28 ga.  It breaks birds like a 12 but its super pleasant to shoot.  I usually shoot my Merkel side by each.

That for some reason is something that I could never do well, shoot a two side.  The 686 I know well in 12Ga.  I like small bores, makes it fun.  My 42 has a full chock and I load my own, I got 1/2 oz of no. 8's  doing 1500 FPS.  It sometimes seperates the brase from the case though.
