They have a prescribed method of re-entering the track if you blow that corner...there are a set of white lines you have to stay between to renter. According to the eurosport feed he didn't gain any time.

I don't think the little emperor figured he had to follow that rule...like he figured he didn't have to do a ride through earlier this year.

My take is race direction is making a point.

Maybe if douche-E-aggi had attended the riders meeting about just that very rule I'd feel a tiny bit sympathetic.... alas he didn't and I don't, AND he's still a spoiled douchebag.

My guess would be (and based on the fact that I don't race WSBK >cough<) The lines are there for safely
re-entering the track..line of race etc. (you can see them in the video), but.......since there was no other
racer in his zip code at the time. WGAF.

Bullshit call.

A rule is a rule. A meeting was called to explain just that very rule, Biaggi felt he was too good to attend. Tough shit, he broke the rule he got penalized.

Personally I'm sick of Biaggi's on and off track antics and don't get me started on Aprilia's massaging of the bike set up rules... the team had it coming IMO.

Are they still doing that?  I remember they were playing fast & loose with the cam drive a while back.. uhh.. last year...

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Triple J

I'm with Kopf...the ride through was excessive given the circumstances.

exactly.  they make a point of saying if you do X, Y will happen.  then someone does X.  they have to do Y.

that said..

ok, donington aside, what antics?

and what massaging?  the cam was legal, they used it, it became illegal, they stopped using it.  clearly the bike still works pretty well..

loved that marco tried to let him go by the lap or 2 before and laverty wouldn't do it.

Biaggi got screwed, plain and simple. He went from a 5 second lead to 11th place...and was lucky to finish 8th and in the points. The re-entering theory is BS (even if it is why they did it)...he didn't seem to re-enter any different than other people who blew that corner. Even if he did, who cares...he was alone and knew it. Subtracting 2-3 seconds from his final time (so he would have had to win by that much) would have been reasonable.

“He was outside the area marked with the white lines, as the TV images clearly demonstrated. This was already enough to penalise him, but the data also showed he gained three tenths in the process." said Ciabatti.

Ya, ya, I get it. A rule is a rule. It sounds like a safety rule, which he broke. Fine. Given the conditions though, the rule he broke didn't make a difference. A ride through still seems excessive to me. If they were that concerned about safety then there seemed to be some pretty tough passing/blocking going on (not that I'm complaining!  ;D). Haga sure seemed pissed a couple times. The 3/10s part of their explanantion is BS...he obviously slowed down, but didn't have a reference.

Whatever though...it did make for a much better ending to the race!  ;D

I know it's a piddling little thing, but they DO seem to keep coming up on the wrong side of the rule book don't they? Beside 2 or 3 bhp here and there adds up. Like I said, no sympathy for the team.  >:(
