Gratz Duck...  just wait one of these days you'll go to the doctor and get an ultrasound full of baby-junk.

That being said... turns out the bun I've got cooking is gonna be a girl!  Need to find some pink plastics for dirtbikes...

Yeah, that'd be awesome. My is already all freaked out by her friends' storys of 'baby wood'.

Not sure that I've heard that story

All I know is that when my son (5 months now) sports his hero member...

Grab a diaper quick

I've seen him pee clear across the room  :o

My 3 month old is getting there!   Nearly got me in the eye today.  [laugh]  He already did #1 and as I cautiously checked the diaper for #2..old faithful went spouted off!  It was like 3-D and must have come within a mm of my pupil.  I jumped back..."holy sh*t!".  He just smiled at me.   Fun times!!   :)

Anyone have any experience with cloth diapers?

Anyone think I'm crazy for thinking of sewing up cloth diapers myself?

Yes lots of experience with cloth diapers here (no sewing yet myself though).

I'm sure you can find quite a number of patterns for diapers online.  If I had the time and working sewing machine I would love to have sewn ours.  Save money and have exactly what you want.

There are a few different styles out there (prefold + cover, flat + cover, fitted + cover, all-in-one, all-in-two, pocket).  What works well for you and your baby at one stage might not work so well at a later stage.  So it's kind of nice to try out a few different things before making a decision, and be flexible as the baby's needs changes.  For example, newborns pee and poop all the time, so prefolds work well as they are much cheaper and super easy to wash.  However, when the baby is more mobile, prefolds can be challenging to get on the baby so something else might work better.  And some styles fit certain babies and not other babies.

Also be aware most fabrics used in diapering (cotton, hemp, bamboo) require "prepping" before use - namely, several hot washes with detergent to remove the natural oils from the fabric.  Otherwise they will not be very absorbent.

Good luck and feel free to ask me any specific questions. :)

Well this time next week I'll be a dad, a long hard road to get here after many disappointments, through losing our own to our many IVF attempts.
We are heading overseas in a couple of days and will finally get to meet and thank our surrogate in person, can't really thank her enough though.
And there's still another dozen on ice, enough for a soccer team of our own.
