so after a great weekend i return home to find that my big bear doesn't start. my wife's air bag light is on in the car. my wife also has a very serious offer on the table job wise to consider. she can make what she makes now in a year in two 13 week sessions. no prob right!? wrong the 13 week sessions are in palm springs. the hospital out there will pay for EVERYTHING (flight, food, lodging, rental car when needed). so i told her the decision is hers but i believe that me and the knuckleheads would be fine for 13 weeks. the kids are pretty self-sufficient. plus she will be off weekends so if she wanted to fly home she could. i think the being gone that long scares her. would it put extra burden on me? sure but i can handle gymnastics, baseball and work it would prob cut into some of my ridin' time though. mom's and dad's out there what do you think?

Well, if there's another 26 tacked on behind the first, that's like working for two years right? So, take a year off afterwards ! Heck, as tight as the economy is these days I wouldn't hesitate. "Money's contriband...spend while you can!" - Jimmy Buffett

simply put she would have to go out to palm springs for 13 straight weeks. if she did it twice which would be 26 weeks she would make the same as working here for 52. apparently there is an extreme nurse shortage in california and hospitals are paying big bucks to bring in nurses from out of state. at least the hospitals that can afford it and i'm pretty sure the palm springs area isn't poor by any means. she is going to meet with the lady and get final numbers tomm.

;D Good luck to you both !  I have a dear friend in Palm Springs and she says the cost of living is very high.  Be sure you consider that because an awesome salary will not go as far there as it does here.  You probably already knew that if your folks are out there but I would make them come up with at least a living situation & possibly a per diem for expenses on top of the pay.  If you don't ask you don't get !!  8)

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Do it! Hell, I can't even find a job. [bang] God bless anyone that has one that is in that kind of high demand. Think of all the people in the military that go away for a year deployment and leave spouses and family behind. They damn sure don't make those top wages and besides she won't have someone shooting at her or trying to blow her up! Well, then again, I have never been to Palm Springs... it could happen. :P

Go for it. [thumbsup]

Hmm...

I still say stay.

cdc

Did you read it right? Everyone stays except her, same salary, plus all expenses. Sure she's gone 26 weeks, but then she has another 26 weeks of free time, plus weekends, at home!!!!

Sounds to me like you need a Sweedish nanny to help with the kids and other odds and ends around the house while she's gone.  [cheeky]

What's a big bear?  Is that slang from a Viagra commercial?  And how is that related to your wife's air bag light?
