How often do people ask how much your bike cost?

I get asked that question by inline 4 sportbike riders. When I tell them their suprised. I'm proud of the fact that my s4 is a quality moto and is also affordable. (and that it is really fast!!)

the #1 question i get is if the bike is mine,

followed by how long have you been riding,

and where did i get my helmet...

I have to modify my answer that I've never been asked.....I have been asked how much my weels cost quite a few times.   That's not Ducati related though so doesn't count in the context of te thread.

never had anybody that I don't know ask me specifically how much it cost, but rather make a comment like "this must be an expensive bike"..to which I reply.. If he is a snob "Yes, it is" otherwise, "not really ...I bought it used and for half the price"

It was an old friend/colleague.  I said "9".  He said "$900?".  I said "I wish! More like $9K".  Him not knowing anything about bikes just replied "ooooooo".

I get asked at least once a week. Not to many people around here have been to finishing school, but they're nice about it

Around here, people brag about how old their truck is or how little they paid for their car. If someone asks how much I paid for something, it means they think I was an idiot and spent frivolously.

I was asked this twice and both times I replied with "before or after the Mods?" 

The main questions I do get are:
"What model is this?"
"Did you add that, how about that, or that, is that stock?" 

My personal favorite is "Can I rev her?" Like Al Bundy, my reply is "Let's rock."  [moto]

"2 days silent treatment.....Stopped by the dealership. She thought she was just offering her opinion on colors, not picking out the bike. Last thing she said was -"I like the black one better too."
