How often do people ask how much your bike cost?

Is is because of the Robb Report that people think the word "Ducati" means "unobtainably expensive"?  I'm constantly being asked how much I paid for my bike.  It's only a Monster, people!

I usually say, swelling with pride at my great purchase choice, "Less than almost any swine, I mean hog, you see on the street.", inwardly gloating that it's twice the bike and sounds thrice as good.

I live on the Big Island so I get asked almost every time I ride. Then they usually say they wish they could afford one.  Whenever I go to the local Honda shop all the shop guys come out and look and act like it's a ferrari or something. They're pretty cool.  [thumbsup]

there was going to be something humorous here, but, unfortunately, i was in charge of the typing, and this is all i could come up with.

I get asked too often... and everytime I do, I just turn my head away in disgust.

First for my safety I don't want to tell someone because they might think they shoudl steal it and 2 it is just so rude to ask people that (in that context)

That's the second most popular question, right behind "What year is that?"

I demurely say "Probably a lot less than you think, and lets just leave it at that."

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I usually say enough and let people think what they want.  I myself was surprised when I saw what Monsters go for.  If people want to think I paid more for it than I did I won't change their mind.

Now if it is someone who seems genuinely interested in the bike or owning one I'll come out and let them know that they are more affordable than public perception.

Should have told him, "less than your rims and tires".

I love that monsters look like a $20k bike.  Or course, I'm in a low theft area.

There are people who are impressed because they think you own an expensive Italian motorcycle.

Then there are people who are impressed that you've kept your Italian motorcycle running.  [laugh]

I have had people look at my M620 and lament that they "couldn't afford nothing like that" and drive off in a car sporting 20" rims that must have run $1K a piece. I think it's funny.

When people say stuff like "wish I could affort that", I usually reply me 2

.... or maybe tell them that I stole it and give them a couple of seconds to think about [coffee]

Is that Kiser?  I bought a Vino from them.  Not much excitement in that part of town except for cheesecake :)
