I've powdercoated my heat shields, rearsets, exhaust cans, and brackets.  I'm thinking about ceramic coating the pipes.  How difficult is it to remove them?  I'm not too excited about getting in over my head.  Also, how much did the ceramic coating cost?  Thanks for the info and GREAT bike!

getting it off wasn't to bad. ungeheuer help me with his tutorial. although i have to add to his write up on it. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT remove the gas tank!!!!!! that is a whole lot of wasted time, effort, and much trouble. as in his instructions the gas tank is in the way of two bolts you need to remove. but all you have to do is hold up the gas tank for about 20 seconds until you remove those two bolts. other than that the write up is golden!

I wasnt keen to figure out what I needed to do whilst grovelling around under the tank, so removed it completely... but there's more than one way to skin a cat so I'll add your observation to my "how to".  Every little bit adds to the knowledge-base

Aw... that's a pity... I was looking forward to seeing how it looked.  Can you confirm that the 47t will fit the under the chain guard?  Seems to me like it would fit but somebody elsewhere suggested that it could be a problem?  Cheers.

i held it up to the bike just to see how it would look. but i would say i'm pretty positive it would fit w/o rubbing...

Unless changing the sprocket sizes for gearing does changing the sprocket and chain provide any value other than changing the look?   Just curious.  Does Ducati deliver a stock chain that's inferior in some way?

I upgraded my chain to the same one mrplease has.... Big difference in quality and peformance... New chain is a lot less stiff, stronger, and feels like your pushing a bicycle around instead of a bike

MRPLEASE GOT A NEW BIKE!!!

hey guys, i got a new bike last weekend! not to worry though, i'll be keeping the 696 as my main ride. and i've actually got a few new parts ordered for the 696 that should be arriving anytime now. what parts? you'll just have to check back to see!  you know i'll be posting pics as soon as i get the parts! nothing to special, but i promise they're real cool. so after this i'll almost be done with the 696. one more part! honest! because once i finish that, i'll start the modding on my new toy. anyway...

new parts arrived!

rizoma crankcase covers & rizoma front and rear pegs w/ the 696 adapters.

next & last part will be dp carbon fiber timimg belt cover. THEN I'M DONE WITH THE 696!

i'll post pics once they're installed...
