?

I can't figure out where the 23K went?  Stock footpegs so no adjustability.  Stock bars so no adjustability.    So pressure plate and cover, a steering damper and a few carbon goodies?  For 8K?

And it's pretty lame for anyone to call a bike an aftermarket R model with just a Termi kit and no internal motor work.

Sorry...I'm usually the last to comment negatively on pricey bikes, but having put about that much money into an RS I can tell you guys that for this much money you should have a rather light bike that fits you exactly and has a lot more done to it to change how it rides than this one.

Sorry but +1. I think I could do a lot more with a stock bike and 8k. It's some bolt on stuff and a paint job.... and not an overly impressive one at that.

+2  Yawn.  [coffee]

I have to admit, it's not quite my cup of tea either.  I love the Seacoast guys (and Robbie's work) but ... Anyways, just thought I'd share   :)

+1 there ought to be a law against it.

+11ty Billion Agreed.

As I started reading the description my mind flashed back to the bike that dealer put together that won the Monster challenge - had it on ebay for 25-30K if I recall.

Obvious difference being that bike was overhauled from top to bottom as opposed to the few bolt on mods of this bike.

2005 S2R -- Mods installed: DP termi full racing kit, ST4 Forks, S4R rear shock, 999 Radial Brake and Clutch MCs, 4 pot Brembo Calipers, 320mm Snowflake rotors, SBK Quick change carrier, 43T rear sproket, Tomaselli Clip Ons, Cyclecat Frame Sliders, ASV Levers, zero indicators, Supernova taillight

I have no problem with bolt-on goodies either.   One thing I like about the monster is the huge aftermarket of easy things to do.   Can change the riding position, the exhaust, etc.etc.

My bike is an example of bolt-on things that have big effects.

But as is they are missing many thousands of dollars of goodies for that price...even at retail for the aftermarket stuff.    That's what I don't get...and it's not like Monsters are the gt500 of the bike world that can get away with 'market adjustment' added to the price.

I'd like to see an itemized list on this tricolor.

LOL.  I wasn't intending to start a bolt on mod thread.  Most of mine are too and like you it's what I love about the Monster "platform".

What I intended to contrast was the engine work, boring, suspension mods, etc of the previous dealers bike to this one with a termi kit, carbon tail, clutch plate, clutch cover, damper and paint job for a similarly high priced bike.

Hell what they've done to the bike is what most who buy one would do first as well.  Myself included.  We're just more realistic about selling our modded beasts knowing when we build them we'll never recoup those costs.

Forget the price, how can they call this bike a "1 of 1" with just some bolt ons? That's like me trying to sell my bike and call it a "1 of 1" because of the changes I've made....

I was actually joking around about this with a friend ... Making little brass plaques for people's triples for their bikes "001 of 001"  ;D

Have you seen the Ducati 848R yet ?

Ultimate MotorCycling has a write up on one that Ducati of North America has put out as an ultimate gift for Christmas.

" It's $39,980

It's got 134 hp, innovative crankcase.  MOTOGP elliptical throttle bodies, larger bore and stroke ratio more like a 1098.

Weighs 370 pounds . Doesn't say wet/dry ?

A competition -quality exhaust , a new rear subframe, Magnesium wheels, CF front fender, heels guards, and tail section ; billet gas cap, rearsets, and brake and clutch levers, Termi exhaust, and Ohlins suspension. "

Quote from John Paolo Canton , Ducati USA

No mention of TC or CF Belly pan like the 1098 R.

" This bike is for the rider who realizes the 1098 is just for bragging rights. The 848R is a street-able bike that delivers enormous pleasure and solid performance on the road and at the track." said John.

What do you think of that one ?   Dolph                                        ducatiusa.com          ultimatemotorcycling.com
