Love my pipes but...

I recently put on a full termi system (lovin it) but now I am burning my boot heals on the pipes and leaving uber nasty black marks.

1.  How can I clean this crap off
2.  Any aftermarket heatshields go up higher on the pipes

What bike and which termi system?

S2R 1000
Full termi

I'm guessing the shot gun kit then?

Where's it melting the boot?  Bottom or side?

I tried some heat shields that mount to brackets, but that raised the shield to high, restricting heal placement.

Mine melts on the side, so...I'm just gonna put the protection on the side of the boot heal when I get a new set.

There are heat shields that mounts flush on the pipe.  Offers less heat protection, but...does not get in the way as much.  I have to head out, so I'll see if I can find it later if no one else does in the mean time.

I had the same problem with my Termis.  I bought a guard which is now for sale (I traded my Termis):  http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=15059.0

Only thing I heard about removing was scuffing it away  ???

I have Cycle Cats rearsets, adjusted about 40mm back and 20mm down from stock peg position, so my boot mark is on the lower s-pipe, where it has it's most narrow bend. For me the options are exhaust wrap or just keep on burning boots. The stock heat guards does nothing for me except being in the way. I'll most probably grind them off and go with more wrap.

Wrap from anywhere or here:

To the OP, as for cleaning what is already on there. Just wait for it to cool off and it should scrape off. Goo Gone works wonders on stubborn stuff and you can always get some 600 grit and sand it off then polish up the pipe a bit...

I've got DP rearsets and termi high pipes.  Tried header wrap and it looked pretty good and worked OK with my Gaerne boots but enough heat came through it to melt my Sidi's.  Also it wore through on the left side pipe since my boot heel rubs against it when I shift.  A tech who noticed the fraying mentioned that a guy he knows had been badly hurt when the wrap on his bike frayed and ended up in the chain, so I think I'm going to go with mtn_mnztr's suggestion.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for sending me the size info. It is too large for my tastes and would actually contact the can on my setup (Full Termi).

I AM RELEASING "DIBS" ON THIS PART, SO GO GET IT IF YOU WANTED IT!!  [thumbsup]

Here is the size info he sent me: It's 7" long and 2.5" wide and mounts via "hose" clamps.
