Damn! you modified it before I could post  [evil]

True, it is my opinion that the new monsters look better.  I think that the swing arm on the bike you posted looks like something off of a 1970's Honda.  It is also my opinion that the number boards on that bike just look tacky.

I personally like progress.  That is just me.

no Actually the Swingarm on all old monster is straight from the 851/888 Not sure if you know those two bikes have a hadfull of World SBK titles using the exact alluminum swingarm.... might look like something old to 18yold but works pretty good on and off the track...

I am familiar with Ducati's race history.  But lets be honest, the monster is all about aesthetics. not racing. And while that technology worked just fine in its day,  I  do not see swing arms like that on current race bikes.  Things have improved a bit in the last 18 years.

Ducati riders are more opposed to updates and change than any other group I have ever encountered (except for HD maybe)

i agree with part of what you're saying....  for me it's not so much that i don't like change or progress or updates...  i mean, the change/updates going from the original generation of monster to the fuel injected was pretty huge...and then to the S*R style was even bigger.  but there was still something raw or oldschool about it that was still classic...still inherently raw or old schoolish.  hell, i don't know, maybe it was just that damn headlight (or the shotgun exhaust on the s*r)...but it worked for me.  but going from the S*R to the 1100....it just seems much too different from the last time they changed things up.  like they were going for an alien look.  but again, if i see an 1100 with the old school light on it...i may just be sold on it.  i kind of doubt it.  not saying it's not an awesome bike, though... the headlight is probably brighter, less prone to breaking the cover, and probably lasts longer.  i'll still take the old one.

what can i say...when it comes to some things....i fear change!!

I wasn't a fan at all but after seeing the Monster Challenge I may have to re-think my opinion but I still hate the headlight and front exhaust.  I know that would cost a pretty penny to change so I'll wait for the Streetfighter and/or Tri Colore S4RS if I can find one by then.

A headlight swap and custom bent headers probably wouldn't be that bad $$-wise.  I'm sure the Martin Bros. could do that in their sleep.

I'm sure that extra ground clearance is a welcome feature to those that scrape hard parts (pegs, sidestand, and whatnot) on the classic monsters.

They weren't last Saturday. They have a white one on the floor and there was a red one outside with the Termi 2-1. I was chatting with Scott D. inside and he motioned for me to come outside to see "the demo". My ears perked up and my heart started racing. "He's gonna let me ride it!!!!" I thought. But no, it was a total tease. Something about how the ECU's not tuned yet. blah, blah, blah... "It's ok Scott, I'll ride it as-is". What a freakin' tease.   [laugh]

There's a strong possibility it'll be ready for demos by the weekend.  [moto]

Now that would be cool.  [moto]

Another dealer indicated that they would not demo the M1100 any time soon.  [bang]
