I've kept mine indoors, but will now use a garage.
Red mentioned Cobra cables or some such device.
I've heard of screaming disc locks.
Recommendations?  I do have a heavy duty lock with
adecco key (circular)

To be correct, CobraLink has gone out of bidness. There are better more security options out there as this:

This has the rubber encasement around the cable which is necessary not to make scratchy on wheels.

You should dig up my old post about the attempted theft of several of my bikes from a rented storage unit that was broken into. It was last January. They even stole a large U-Haul box van and drove it through the security gate of my storage unit complex to haul off all my bikes! They couldn't even move the first one an inch! They either gave up out of frustration or were scared off... I'll never know. I keep all my bikes secured the exact same way in my home garage. I sleep like a baby.

PM me and I will bore you with the details.

edit... I posted it Jan 13th 2009 "Lock it or Lose it" thread

I thought you might chime in. I'll check out the thread
thanks! [thumbsup]

12ga and no pants works well for me in my garage.

10 acres, gate, great dane, lab, locked up shop, bike alarm, two 12 gauges, 20 gauge, 9mm, .223 with a long range scope, two compound bows, some good ole USMC training, two fists and two feet. get past all that and you can have the bike.

i would consider a thick gauge cable and an alarm. cable and locks, like chains can be cut. they did a demo at work where the installed the club on a car. guy shows up with a slim jim and a little bag. pops lock in about 10 secs, jumps in car pulls out battery operated hand held saw, cuts the club in half and it all took less than one minute. you can never have enough security.
home will always be between the red and rio!!!

Does it get any better? [thumbsup] Screw the locks and chains! Nakedness and 00 buck work fine! [clap] [laugh]

Thanks for all the info. Flex cable/chain on order from
Lockitt. Alarm should be next. Lead projectiles are
covered.  [thumbsup]

If you can drill into the floor, the Kryptonite Anchor works VERY well.  Make sure to use JB Weld or some similar 2-part epoxy for the mollys when you sink them.

Add a Kryptonite chain and you're good.  If you can, chain it in a couple of places :wheels + frame.

The cable are good for slowing ppl down, but if you have it chained down the cables help a lot.

The screaming disk locks are great, I have a Xena and it works very well.  In an enclosed area, they will go deaf.  Flat out.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

+1 on the Xena disc lock. Got some after the storage unit break in. They touch/move a bike they will never hear the same again! [laugh] Imagine that thing going off in a metal 10x30 storage unit. Think that would attract some attention? They would never know where it was coming from. ;D

and if you're really crafty, you could rig up a sound-sensitive strobe light.  anything loud sets it off.   they would be shitting in their pants.

i'd probably wake up from my garage lounge-chair slumber to the sound of that alarm and the flashing lights might disorient me enough to make me spill my beer.

but with all that confusion, when the ne'er-do-well sees a strobe illuminated nekkid dude with ol' mossy500, he'll regret his decisions.
