Thanks to everyone who posted up. That definitely helped keep my spirits up.

I talked with the spinal surgeon today and he said it should take about 4-5 weeks to recover. I won't have to wear a back brace and I shouldn't have any long term issues. What a relief that was to hear.

[thumbsup]

Good to hear about the semi quick recovery and no brace. [thumbsup] You do realize how lucky you are right? That was a case of good clean living and lots of luck. Hope you didn't use it all up. [laugh] Take care.

Good deal!
I've broken three vertebrae ...never needed surgery, but it took a lot longer than five weeks to get back to 98.4%

Hey guys and gals. Here's an update on the last few days. I was able to get home mid-day Monday and I've been trying to take it easy since. Yesterday I was feeling pretty good and tried to do too much so I'm feeling it today. I'm on Celebrex and Lortab which is keeping the pain in check but my brain is all sorts of slow and IZ_ so I don't know how that's going to work for me tomorrow when I try to get back to work.

I spoke to an attorney yesterday who's also a cyclist and he'll be helping me navigate all the insurance issues and also will help me to get my property damage claim dealt with. It looks like my carbon fiber frame is jacked up so it's going to be a sizable claim that normal auto adjusters have a hard time understanding. High-end cycling equipment is not cheap.

Great news! Take it easy, you have a license to do so now. Catch up on all the 007 movies or something. lol, I hope you get to feeling well soon.

All the best to you and M!  [thumbsup]

Remember to take photos of all your bruises so when the insurance company says it couldn't have been all that bad, you'll have proof of your sub-orbital launch.

I decided to heed your advice and took the rest of the week off. My employer offers STD :o (Short Term Disability) and my State Farm policy has Personal Injury Protection so I should be covered for the lost wages through those. M and I picked up a new 52" Sony Bravia last week and we just got Direct TV installed after a long sabbatical without cable so I've got plenty to keep me occupied. M's parents gave her a PS3 for her birthday so I've been taking advantage of that as well. The HD graphics on the one game we have (MotorStorm) are unbelievable.

Don't forget you can watch BluRay discs on that PS3. Just bought a couple (two) of 007 BluRays @ Sams Warehouse for $18.

"My employer offers STD :o (Short Term Disability)" -----Glad you cleared that up.  [laugh] [thumbsup]
