on my way back from Mt. Baldy (went for the first time)....tired as heck and I feel a little poke on the back of my right leg behind my knee.  Thought to myself, a bee must have just tried to sting me but the stinger barley made its way in.  All the sudden it really starts to sting.  I pull over immediately and as I'm getting off the bike it really starts to hurt; even with all that adreneline.  As I'm rolling my pant sleeve up to see whats up, boom!!, I get another dose in the front of my leg by my knee!

At this point I had realized that SOMETHNG had managed to crawl into the bottom of my pants and crawl up to my knee area.  The good news was, it had no stinger.  The bad news was I couldn't take my pants off.  So i just kind of patted my right leg multiple times in hopes of killing the little bugger.

At this point the pain was actually getting to me.  I got right back on my bike and started riding.  After a couple blocks I feel the little bugger crawling around in my hip area!!!!!  WTF!!!!!!  I started punching myself in that area in hopes of finally killing the damn thing.  Then when I got to my destination I went to the restroom and saw that the thing had actually stung me another two times in that area that I punched.  However the last two stings/bites did not hurt as much as the first two....talking about not going down without a fight!  I"m thinking it was a fire ant...unbelievable.  I had to meet some people so I couldn't really get a chance to look to see what the heck it was.... I never found anything but SOMETHING was there.  My goodness.

People, do NOT go on a long ride without wearing underpants that are tucked into your boots!!!!!!!!

Sorry for your ordeal...

but this certainly has moto content.

Where should we move it? ;D

Since it has a bug in it.... I'm for shifting it to Board Tech Issues.

I don't know... specialized underwear that tucks into your boots?  This sounds like it belongs in the Gear section to me.

Artful

I think we should create a new section devoted entirely to bug-related incidents that occur on rides. DP err duck soup err DP Part Deux, errrr Nate should moderate it.
Every time I meet a new group of your friends that understand you and your weird sense of humor I'm a little more amazed that there are other people in the world like you that lived through childhood - My loving girlfriend

No offense intended to ninja chicks, triathlete tootsies, ass-kickers in skirts, brawler babes, roller derby queens, fire fighter females, moto-mama's or any one else on this board.  I tried to come up with another way to say that without tossing you all collectively under the bus, but nothing else would have worked quite as well.    :-*

One time I was out riding my 620.  When I was cruising at about 140mph, like I always do, a 20 foot copperhead launched itself at me, crawled up my pant leg, and bit me at my junk.  I pulled out that bastard out thru the zipper.  Bit its head off, spit it in the air and roundhouse kicked the head to the next county, all while taking a decreasing radius hairpin turn with a 1,000 foot drop cliff to my right.  Yes, it was a left hand turn without guard rail.  Add did I mention I was going 140 with magnesium pucker making sparks?

Thru the whole ordeal, I shed no tear.  I think I muttered an inaudible "ouch" under my breath.  That's how manly I am.   [cheeky]
