That last scenes with Tyrion and Jamie's discussion about their cousin and the head popping was great.

I was so make the beast with two backsin' bummed that Oberyn's head got popped.  He truly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.   :'(

Last few episodes made for a great end to season.  But man, I don't want to wait 40-50 weeks for next season.  Ugh.  Should have waited x years until series completed and then just watched all at once.

I knew someone would post that.  ;)

I'm not investing in that many pages unless I'm certain that by the time I finish the books will be done.

The first book was published in 1995. I remember that every time I get antsy waiting for the new book or the new season.

This was an interesting read...

The next book will be publish by 2015 at the earliest. Considering that they're covering portions of the 4th and 5th books this season, something tells me that we will have to wait a long time for the last season of GoT on HBO.

I understand that the books/show don't always align, but I'm curious to know...

For anyone that read the books first and are now watching the show: do you enjoy the show even though many of the plots are spoiled for you?

And for anyone whose enjoyment of the show caused them to read the books: has knowledge of the show plot made the books less exciting to read?

I've read the books and I still enjoy the show. The acting is top notch and they have enough plot changes for me to keep me on my toes.

I'm in both camps as i watched the first season then immediately went out and bought the books and read them in about 3 months. The show doesn't spoil the books because the show is visualising the broad strokes on the books and there are many many small details the book drops that end up giving little hints towards future plot points. They are best enjoyed together, read the books for the greater backstory and watch the for actors for the life they give to the characters.

This thread died along the way, but I think it's time to bring it back like a White Walker. Who's been keeping up with the latest exploits of our friends in Westoros?

Present.  [thumbsup]

Yeah, this season has me a little ambivalent: I like getting the payoff of years of plot points in every single episode, but I miss the slower pace and subtle strategies that unfolded over whole seasons in years passed.  It's like the first seasons were a stripper, dancing for dollars and never giving you what you want but always giving you just enough to stick around and keep tipping.  Season seven is more like I walking into a full on orgy.  Not sure I was ready for it.

In any case, I'm predicting a lot of key deaths next episode.  Half that group is not coming back south of the wall.  At least not alive.

You hit the nail on the head there. It is gratifying to watch the characters higher purpose unfold and paths converge.

Im up to date. Watch it with our eldest over good wine.

Gosh. Shows how important air power is in warefare.

It's the product of the short season. They are trying to pack as much bang for their buck in 7 episodes, which leads to this sort of pacing.

I think the northern party is going to lose at least 2 people, Thoros and Beric.
