I remember reading about PhilB's M900 (pure stock) reached 130K+ Miles. And still climbing very fast.
2006 Kawasaki ZZR 600 (Track&Commute)
2001 Monster M900 Si.e. (Current)
1998 Honda Superhawk VTR 1000 (Sold)
1993 Honda CBR 600 F2 [101,000+ miles] (Sold)
1983 Kawasaki GPZ 550 [220,000+ km] @ Philippines (Donated to degenerate cousin)

I believe PhilB has passed 200K at this point.  Bigian has well over 100k as does a buddy of mine.  I'm only up to 63K on mine.

Good luck with that. While Ducs are good bikes, and they can indeed last a long time (especially the air-cooled ones), I wouldn't say they're necessarily better. They're just different.

Regarding your buddy who rides a ZX-6R...I'm guessing you'd be very hard pressed to show that a Ducati SBK (middleweight or liter) is better than the Japanese equivalents in terms of reliability.

Yep.  The problem is that your friend isn't necessarily wrong.   [laugh]
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Your fruend is right if reliability and longevity are the standards....statistically speaking.

Ducati's are better but it's a state of mind and body thing it's almost zen like.

With the troubles I've been having with mine, and the constant niggles it gets as a result of the previous owners x3 poor service, your mate with the Jap bike will get no argument from me!  [thumbsdown]

I've only had one foray into the non Japanese world before owning this Ducati. That bike was a 69 Norton Commando and that ended badly. LOL!

Once it's all sorted though, I'm sure I'll have a good run (GK says whilst praying that this indeed will be the case!)

saying ducatis are better than Japanese bikes is like saying that my college sports team is better than yours.

Exactly, all good fun....no reason he can't be well informed with a few stereotype busting facts.  To throw the naysayers back onto their heels!

I think what jax meant was that the comparison is irrelevant and petty.
