Road rage much? Car driver punches monster rider

242PC, Misdemeanor battery with no injuries won't go very far. I'd take him to jail but he'd be cited out within four hours, have a court date in a couple months, and if he had a clean record, get maybe, big maybe.....a bit of probation or anger classes.

The rider was within his rights to protect himself.

unless there is previous history with that particular driver, i most likely would have gone around him when i saw the car go into park.

What could the rider possibly done to justify: the VW cutting off the bike, stomping on the brakes, obstructing traffic only so he could get out of his cage and hit the rider? The fact that the rider turned the footage into police says to me he(the rider) did nothing wrong.

all good points, but it would still be reasonable for the leo to see as much as possible prior.

it should not change anything.  the biker clearly wasn't punching the asshole in the 5 min prior and probably cut the guy off and didn't even know it. 

no excuse for assaulting him.

that being said, no one would have been too upset if the rider had ventilated the cager.  good riddance.

The prior five minutes could show an entirely different viewpoint. The rider turning in the video to the police (if he actually did, remember, its the Internet) doesn't prove the rider did nothing wrong, especially if its just the clip we see. Frequently when someone reports a fight or road rage or the like, it turns out they are just the loser. Meaning they ran their mouth or threatened someone they shouldn't have. I'm not saying this is the case here but...you never know.

saw that last night.  whole thing is screwy.

I think the comments on the vid say the driver pulled in behind the bike, then the bike slowed for speed limit and yellow light.  driver possibly thinks the bike tried to brake check him which caused the outburst.

Personally, if a car stops in the road like that in front of me, I'm going around and driving to the nearest well populated public place. i mean the guy drives a GTI, who knows what he's capable of.

I would not have been sitting on my bike by the time he walked to me. I would have put the kick stand down and gotten off the bike as soon as he stopped and was opening his door.

Of course it's always easier to say what you would have done and often a different matter when you're in the situation, but I'd like to think I would have been much more prepared for a confrontation than the rider in the video was.

I'd have been sitting there, astounded at the depths of dumbmake the beast with two backsery I was witnessing.

Like watching a serene sunrise or a command performance. Some things just take your breath away.
