This might be fun. I've been trying to pick the winners each week, but it's not that easy to do, even without the point spread. Here are next week's games.

             NFL 10/24 - 10/28, 2013
   Favorite                   Underdog                             My picks.
   Carolina                   At Tampa Bay             Carolina
San Francisco      At Jacksonville             San Fran
   At Detroit      Dallas                           Dallas
   At Philadelphia      NY Giants              Eagles
   At Kansas City      Cleveland             Chiefs
   At New Orleans      Buffalo                           Saints
   At New England      Miami                           Pats
   At Cincinnati      NY Jets                           Bengals
   Pittsburgh      At Oakland             Raiders
   At Denver      Washington             Broncos
   At Arizona      Atlanta                           Falcons
   Green Bay      At Minnesota             Packers
                   Monday Night Football

   Seattle      At St. Louis                           Seahawks
Pick the most winners to collect the prize.
Tiebreaker = Predict the total points scored by both teams for the Monday night game. Total Pts. = 50

This is just for bragging rights. Can you pick the winners for next week? I was a very pedestrian 10/3 last week and I missed the total MN pts. by 30.

Without Mathews and Rogers the Packers are not much better than the Vikings.

Yeah but the Packers will be back, purple won't.

It's amazing the effect one or two players has at this level.

QB more than LB or really any other player.  But that's because the NFL today is not your father's NFL: in 1978, 26/28 teams attempted more running plays than passing plays; in 2010, 4/32 teams ran more than passed.  QB is everything now to a team and even to a player.  Just ask Greg Jennings.

The Colts went from 10-6 to 2-14 after Manning went out with more neck surgery. That one player made all the difference.

Hard to argue with that, especially when you look at the last ten Super Bowl winning QBs.

Super Bowl 38. Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 39. Tom Brady (Deion Branch), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 40. Ben Roethlisberger (Hines Ward), 0 TDs
Super Bowl 41. Peyton Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 42. Eli Manning (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 43: Ben Roethlisberger (Santonio Holmes), 1 TD
Super Bowl 44: Drew Brees (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 45: Aaron Rogers (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 46: Eli Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 47: Joe Flacco (MVP), 3TDs

Not too many scrubs on that list.

I still say pass rusher is the 2nd most valuable asset to a team because the new rules favor the receivers over the DBs, so the only way to stop a good QB is to disrupt his rhythm or get him on the ground.

Offensive line is the key, without it the best QB in the game would be running for his life.

+1

O-Line is the most important part of a football team IMO. A good O-Line can make an OK running back look great, and an effective running back can make a mediocre QB very good.
