Sure it does. Monocoque is a French word!  [puke]  No Italian love there.

Maybe they could call it stuffed shells? [laugh]

OMG!!     :o

I could really get to like a carbon framed Monster.  Probably too expensive for production though.

We need to keep our trellis frame.....could they do a carbon fiber trellis frame???

They could, but it would pretty much defeat the reason to use carbon fiber to begin with.

If you're going to use carbon fiber you may as well exploit it's advantages rather than handicap the design as to not offend the purists.

You can justify it as a motogp team!  hell that one-off carbon frame has to be a gazillion dollars and somebody's first kid and left testicle  [cheeky]
If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.

Can I take yours for a spin when you get it?
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

SVs have trellis frames....

Thinking about the economics, I can't see the CF mono coming to the Monster line.  The Monster is Ducati's bread and butter.  If they go with the CF mono frame, the price would go up and they would lose market share to the monster copies.  Keeping the $$ within reach of the target market is key.  CF mono is a cool, but mostly esoteric design thing.  Maybe a premium priced 1098 feature.

CF will probably become cheaper in the coming years ( at least that's what some people are saying) And as steel prices are going up, at some point it just may make sense to switch to CF.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ducati came out with a new model 1100s monster with a CF subframe in stead of the aluminium one on the 696.

Another thing is weight minimums:  My 05 S2R (400 lbs) with me on it (200lbs) doing 70mph passing a truck on the I-5 gets shaky as it is.  How much weight do we really want to take off of these cycles?
