Tuesday nights at the TT Roadhouse* are great, but I want to eat!
A few folks have talked about having a less bar-oriented bike hang out night, so anyone who wants some eats, bench racing, random conversation and good company should come on Wednesday
6:30pm to Chuys

EDITED 10/27/09
Updated Location for Wednesday (see replies below):
Bike Night @ Chuys Bar n' Grill
Wednesday October 28th 2009
Located: 830 E. Greenway Parkway (7th st and Greenway)
From: 6pm to 9pm
We've had a couple meet-ups at Chuys, it works well with parking right in front of a large outdoor patio. Everyone orders their own food/beverages from the counter so it's casual.
I'll be there with biker bells on.
I will try and make it... should have the couple parts I am waiting on in the mail tomorrow and then the top tripple/clipon/master cylinder converstion will be complete. Would be a nice shake down run.
Well, Dietrich and I are sicky so won't be able to make this tonight.
:'(
Hope some folks show up and have a great time.
We'll be there next week!
I'm going back to sleep.
Having a bad alergy attack here and I will not be able to make it as well and the bike is still apart (pieces should be here any minute).
Hopefully next week.
Here's an ongoing bike night at an alternate Chuy's location (and just a few miles from my house :) ):

If the food is good, maybe ...
If I'm on that side of town already, maybe ...
I don't know ... that's just a little too far away from my house.
Yeah, that's quite a ways away for a weeknight meet.
Do we want to plan for the Inidan School Chuy's for this week? It seems to be centrally located.
I have the bike back together with the latest parts. Will be torn down when the parts I ordered today arrive... went overboard this time around but it will be fun.
Yeah....wouldn't want to ride your motorcycle to a bike night. [roll] [cheeky] How about I ride to your place and we all ride out together? [thumbsup] (BTW - The food is pretty good. And it's very close to Cycle Gear on Cave Creek if you have any moto related shopping to do.)

This local section of the board should be changed from "Arizona Ducati Riders Association" to the "Arizona Excuse Makers Association". The AZEMA.

Hey now... some of us have to work early the next morning...
And my next mod will have to make me think up some creative excuses as to why I am not towards the front in twisty sections... mmmm Ohlins.
So are we doing the Indian School and 32nd st one tomorrow night? (and not Dietrich's suggestoin of the Greenway one)?

Yes, I will be in town next week. Staying in Old Town Scottsdale, Wed-Thurs night.
See you guys then.

I suggested the 7th St. Chuy's because it is an established bike night open to any riders. When we got there there were about a dozen guys on everything form cruisers to sport bikes hanging out on the patio. Unfortunatley, we didn't mingle with any of 'em because a couple of "our kind" showed up too! [thumbsup] So we had some good food and conversation, and an excuse to cruise around town a little, including a stop at Cycle Gear.
Any more suggestiosn for a Wed night meet up? I like going to the coffee shops at Southern & McClintok (Extreme Bean, Gold Bar), and I think theres a Pizza place and a Buffalo Wild Wings right near there as well. Maybe a combo eat/go fer coffee night?

It was also a wee bit chilly to sit and eat outside (at least I thought so!)
Those of you who didn't show up - you missed another fun time! :P :)
Even though I try not to encourage the use of the word "Extreme" (or the worse variation "Xtreme"), Extreme
Bean is a nice cafe and I vote for next Wednesday meet there!
They are open until 11pm M-Th and until the wee hours of the morning over the weekend.

Either one works... both within 8 miles of my place.
I should have the new Ohlins forks and rear shock on by then. The forks arrived today. The carbon front fender should be here Saturday (USPS). The shock is still showing as Monday.
There's a Nello's Pizza at the same intersection (same Nello's menu that's in Old Town Scottsdale for those who are familiar). Maybe grab a bite and then head over to the coffee place? That would also give tow locations/times for those who want to join in earlier or later. I'm not familiar with parking at Nello's Tempe.
Nello's Pizza Tempe
1806 E. Southern Avenue
Tempe, AZ
(N.E. corner of Southern & McClintock)
parking looks plentiful:

It is plentyful and right next to the gold bar coffee place... we could park in one place and attend either place... easier to move from one to the other. I would park in the spots East of the gold bar and next to Nello's patio (would be left of the above photo).
I misread the date. [bang]
I'll be in Phoenix/Scottsdale this coming Wednesday, Nov. 4.
I was hoping to go to Chuy's with you guys then.
I'll just watch this thread for whatever location you decide.
Anyone still on for Wed night? Nellos in Tempe OK? I'm pretty sure the parmesan cheese is grated not powdered, so we should be OK on that front.
You name the time and place!
If Randy had his heart set on Chuy's, there's a Chuy's just a mile down the road on McClintock and Baseline.
I mean, we could go there instead of Nello's. I wasn't suggesting that Randy go there by himself.

I wonder if they have powdered milk?

New shock just arrived today so I will start that install tonight. Hope to get the bike back together tomorrow night. I only need to figure out what to do about the crankcase breather box as it has to come out to make room for the shock. Should just be able to get a open element filter locally and go directly on the breather itself (and plug the hole in the airbox).
Should see you all Wed.

I'm not expert on laps, but I can't help but think that if you didn't spill the scalding hot coffee on your lap it wouldn't have been so annoying.
I'm just saying.
So where we going this Wednesday? Nello's in Old Town? Nello's in Tempe? Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert (www.joesfarmgrill.com (//http://)) ? Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall food court?
Where? I know a few were itchin to ride around a little bit last Wed. Maybe a meet-up spot and a ride-to-destination spot?
My 2c
meet - greet - "ride "- eat
+1
Let's ride somewhere together.
Also, I just found out that my Wednesdays will be less open for me, so this week might be my last one.
Joe's Farm Grill would be a good place but they close at 9pm. We would have to meet earlier than normal for a short ride beforehand if we wanted to do that.
Why not just meet at the original Chuy's on 7th and Greenway and make that the regular spot?
Also, we should probably eat first and ride second, mainly for people who tend to be late. [coffee]
Altogether, I think it should be Dawn's decision since she started the thread.
Everybody whined about the 7th st Chuy's when that was posted up and nobody showed! :'(
Maybe the 32nd St & Indian School Chuy's is easier for people to get to?
The only problem with a ride after is where does the ride end? Do we pick a spot to just say goodbye, or will we say goodbye at the restaurant and then people peel off during the ride?
I agree Joe's Farm Grill closing at 9 could be a problem. Also, trying to meet someplace at 6 or 6:30, even 7pm, can be rough due to traffic (it SUCKED last week trying to get to the Chuy's on Baseline from my place - 51 south to 202 east to 101 south. At 6:30 = 15 MPH most of the way.)
How about meet around 7pm near a freeway exit (downtown Tempe?), and ride to eat about 8? If we went to the 32nd St Chuy's we could make a fun route to get there.
I hear that the Chuy's on Indian School and 32nd St has a fence around it. Closing, renovating ???
How about the Nello's on Scottsdale Rd. idea?

Ah....sucky. I'll investigate at lunch today. I'm all about Nello's in Old Town.
If not Nellos, then Oreganos would be cool, too. All in old-town Scottsdale.
For me, the later the better. Even just for the sake of lighter traffic, I think 7:00pm or 7:30pm would be easier on everyone.
Anyway, why not just do what we did last time:
- Meet at restaurant
- Eat at restaurant
- Ride away from restaurant
- End up at Extreme Bean coffee shop and
- Hang out a bit and then people can leave when they want
Only this time we would not just go across the street; instead, we would go on a nice, cool ride across town (and then still end up at a coffee shop).
Hey all!
Sorry I've been quiet on here... been dealing with robots..er.."customer service representatives" all day. Ugh.
Anyway....
here's da poop (okay, prolly not the best phrase for a dinner meetup....):
Meet at Chuy's 3222 E Indian School Rd, Phoenix
at 7/7:30 for eats
then fun ride to Mills End Cafe
310 S Mill Ave #101, Tempe, AZ
at 8:30ish!

Ya, I'm even making sure that I put the new cover sheet on all the TPS reports before they go out.
So, I'm excited to ride through the airport.
I love going past Terminal 4 and hearing the engine echo off the walls, but really, the best part is the loop around after Terminal 3. You actually go up a steep hill, around a parking lot, and then back down the steep hill in a single lane -- it's like a freakin matchbox track. So much fun.
Not sure why, and I hate being a party pooper 'cause I'm almost always up for anything....but I have no desire to ride through the airport. :-[

I was there just last night and I have to say that the Arrivals section would *not* be an enjoyable ride-through.
Ugh. Unless you have a snow plow or people-mover on the front of your car....
For the arrivals section, the road splits next to the terminals (with a sidewalk in between) so that one set of lanes is close to the building and handles pick ups/drop offs, and another set of lanes go straight past.
So, it shouldn't be a problem.
I think cruising the airport takes your "bike gang" level to a new low.

First of all, Tuesday nights at the airport are the busiest ... everyone knows that.
Wednesday nights, however, are practically traffic-less.

Even without traffic, the airport is still the airport. Think, airport security and Phoenix police abound. Going fast enough to make it fun (and worth the trip) is begging for a ticket. Urban hooliganism is a fine art that requires discretion.
So...see everyone at Chuy's, NE corner of 32nd St. & Indian School at 7/7:30?
We'll eat, we'll joke around, we'll discuss riding routes to Mills End Cafe at the north end of Mill Ave! :)

The wavelength of yellow/amber light (2500K) is longer than that of white light (5500K) and thereby makes it more ideal for fog-lamp application. Throwing a longer beam of light lower to the ground allows greater visibility through fog which would otherwise refract light of a shorter wavelength. <and makes dividing medians more visible at night when making left turns, for myopic sonsapregnant doges like myself>

We'll eat, we'll joke around, we'll discuss riding routes to Mills End Cafe at the north end of Mill Ave! :)
See ya tonight!
It was great to see everyone last night!
Thanks!
Yeah, that was fun.
Where are we going next week?
Well ... 3 Chuy's down ... and 6 to go.
I vote for the Ahwatukee one.

I don't think the Chuy's are a problem to find no matter which city, but a decent place to get a coffee at a reasonable time seems tough call in Phoenix, and I really missed my coffee last night.
But it was good catching up with you guy's even if I did get flashed - by a camera.

Xtreme Bean seems to be pretty reliable for being open late-night (unlike lame Mills End. boo)
and apparently they have really tasty fancy coffee dessert-type drinks. :)

Meetup at your own risk this Wednesday eve! :)
We will be preparing for Turkey-day festivities and won't be available.
Happy Turkey-day ya'll!
Anything this week?
[moto]
Anyone interested in getting together this wed? In an effort to work off fat gained from holiday meals I propose we park our bikes at the bottom of Piestewa Peak. The last one to the top and back to start their bike has to buy a round of diet beverages for everyone else. Unless anyone has any better ideas?
While Dietrich's hiking suggestion definitely appeals to me after this Weekend-of-Eating,
I'm thinking of something a little more moto-friendly.
Perhaps meet at Flickas Bar and Grill
2003 N Scottsdale Rd
Scottsdale, AZ 85257
http://www.yelp.com/biz/flickas-bar-and-grill-scottsdale (http://www.yelp.com/biz/flickas-bar-and-grill-scottsdale)
at our usual 6:30/7:00pm and then a rompin' ride to some cafe?
Any takers?
Bueller? Bueller?
How is last week different than any other week?
Oh ... because you might have eaten more than normal ... ya, I wouldn't know because I eat light regardless of the occasion.
"Enough is as good as a feast" is my motto.
... so anyway, ya, Wednesday sounds cool. I'll try to be there.
Clay, you going? Let me know and I'll bring the spring thing.
:)
I put the new Marchesini front wheel on last night so it is ready to go (weight savings over the stock 3-spokes).
Only time I have heard of Flickas in the past was at the Pavillions about a month or so ago. They were advertising some bike night and pushing $2.50 Coronas and stunt riders (big screen mounted to a Gem car with loud speakers). They were supporting some sportbike club who were all wearing leather vests as I would see a Harley rider doing.
Sure, I will try it.
Any takers?
Bueller? Bueller?
sounds good to I
I went to lunch with a friend of mine last week at Flickas and it was yummy.
Apparently, he used to go there often and the owner would often come out and talk to him.
I like that.
Gobble gobble gee
and gobble gobble gendsday
Can we pick a different night sometime in the future?
Cuz I'm busy every Wednesday.
I was thinking of doing a Thursday night something at some point (instead of Wednesday)....
Perhaps in a couplea weeks?
Thursdays are fine for me, too.
I mentioned before that my Wednesdays were going to start being unavailable for me, but that's not the case anymore. I recently got called to be an Assistant Scoutmaster in the ward that we just moved to. And since Scout Night is on Wednesday I thought my Wednesdays would be gone altogether, but Scouts ends at 6:45pm. So no problem there.
Anyway ....
I'm not sure I'm going to make it tonight, my gas tank is leaking pretty bad. I think from where the hinge meets the tank.

Last minute issue... not going to make it.
See you all next week.
yep, gas tank leak at the hinge, real common, tank full or not, thin metal, poor weld penetration, it happened to mine while in a shop and they "slosh sealed" it at my expense (not right) it worked well for years but now i'm seeing traces of fuel on the tank seam and frame rail near it. keep us posted on your fix.
The weather is supposed to be good by Wednesday.

<hijack src="this thread" duration="quick">
Photo radar isn't really an issue is it? I mean, they don't usually send a ticket to someone wearing a full-face helmet. And if they do, you can just send it back and say, "I have no idea who this is."
So, other than the flash being painful on the ol' astigmatism, I don't worry about them much.

heh. I didn't say where or when this happened... there are speed cameras alllll over the U.S. [bang]
Full face Arai. Eyes, nose, mouth.
The person in the helmet was fully identifiable, in other words.
I'm just sayin' ... don't count on the fact that you have a (full-face) helmet on to keep you from being ID'd.
It can still happen. If you are going to speed (I would *never* ;D ) then perhaps sunglasses, tinted visor, or doing what all the other traffic does and create a road hazard by slowing down only within the 300 yards where the speed cameras are.... [thumbsup]

"Refried beans to coffee beans", then how about some Holiday spirit to check out the lights at "Coach house" on the way home, park out front off Indian School Rd?
Holiday light tour sounds good for next week! I'm still reeling from last night's clean & smooth pavement single track craziness, headlights snaking through the elevation changes, the smoking tires, agricultural excursions, front wheels leaving the earth over the slightest crests in the road (or not) and making it to the next cup of coffee in one piece. Views were good too, for the split seconds I had to chek 'em out. [moto]
M-F'er :( Can we switch to Mondays instead?!
I can't do Mondays or Tuesdays, at least not before about 9pm. I can always meet up with you guys later...like I've said...the hooligan Ducati world does not revolve around me, nor do I want it to. 8) But...We can do Wed, Thurs, or Fridays. One issue for next week though is that Thurs is Christmas eve!
I'd love to do a next Wed (night before Xmas eve) Lights Viewing ride.
Then the following week, we start Thursday night dinner get -togethers to replace Wednesday night gathering.

Hey, for next Wednesday's "Ride and see Christmas lights" night, I propose having the Mesa LDS Temple as a destination. I just took my family on Tuesday night, and the lights were fantastic, definitely worth a walk-around. I mean, if you like Christmas lights, then you'll love these.
You wacky Mormons! :)
We also have a request to go see "Coach house" lights.
Lemme figure out the itinerary this week and I'll post it in a few days.
Wheeee!
How about this route -- Chuy's, Temple, Coach House.

I, sadly, had to skip last night. What about crashing and almost crashing and smoke and off-road?

Mostly talking things up to make them sound more exciting than they really were. 8) Mostly. ;)
It was way fun though. 6 of us cruising around playing "follow the leader", and "try to see the leader's teeny tiny turn signals from 3 bikes back". :)
We got a tour of lights in some neighborhoods... and went on a fun ride up UP! but I'm not sure where.
All I know is that we twisted and turned and went through and over a bunch of large dips that would have been Waaaay fun at speed... and there was a lovely view out over the valley and Oh, crap! A turn! Quit sight-seeing! ;)
aaaand back down and zipped over to the cafe.
Good times.

Gosh Michael...you just can't win with this internet stuff! ....haha... What's not funny about that is we DID have a Larry who DID crash on a ride a couple summers ago and totalled his bike. Few days in the hospital. Oh well....I thought it was funny, just made me think about Larry.
Dang ... I just put Larry because I figured it was a safe name to use.
Poor Larry.
I kinda miss Larry. He drives a great chase van!
I miss Larry too - he still owes me $1550
WHOA !!! Do I dare to ask? Sounds like a "sucky" deal.

My wife has a helmet now, so I was thinking it would be fun to bring her on Wednesday (cupcake style).
Maybe ....
We'll see if we can get a babysitter.

I'd love to do a next Wed (night before Xmas eve) Lights Viewing ride.
Then the following week, we start Thursday night dinner get -togethers to replace Wednesday night gathering.
TT will continue on Tuesday nights.
Moto evening fun all week long!
This Thursday or next?

It'll have to be next Thursday - this one is New Years Eve and I would rather not be on the road that evening.
I'll post up Wednesday night info shortly.

Do you mean we'll be doing something this Wednesday? Which I would be happy about, but I thought you said that last Wednesday was our last Wednesday.
Either way, I think we should all go to YC's Mongolian BBQ and live dangerously!!!

I might have said that thinking for some reason that last Wednesday was the last one of the year.
But no!
I won't eat at YC's. Period. Ain't gonna happen.
You are, of course, welcome to try your luck.

See, with my luck, I'll get there are 7:00pm and wait 30 minutes for you guys to show up.
Or ... I'll get there at 7:30pm and everyone will be done eating.
I think what I'll do is get there early and eat twice. [thumbsup]
Hey Michael!
I'll be there at 7pm sharp and ready to order.
See you then! :)
Although the idea of eating twice is appealing....
And why even stop at twice?
