Ok, so as some of you all know I'm still a rookie rider. When I got my first "motorcycle wave" I thought it was pretty cool.

Today I'm out on the Monster  [moto] and three guys on HD's pass going to opposite direction on a small road. I give the old casual hand down wave and these guys just ignored me. I thought .. whatever. then I saw them again about 15 min later and the same thing.

I was like, thats cool whatever man..

Do you guys get this from HD riders? I guess some of them think their bikes are better so they dont acknowlege other riders?

just curious.

Not too often...but I would say that the Harley guys are the least likely to wave since most of them can't ride...so they have the grip of death on the bars and would wreck and die if they removed them [laugh]
Hi-ho-hi-ho....its off to the track I go.................

denbike

Now that Duc Stew has a Harley can we wave at him? Can he wave back?

(or is it Hog Stew now?)
Old enough to know better.

Duck-Stew here:  Sadly Dennis Crowley (aka: denbike) passed away 7/13/08 from a heart-attack.  He will be fondly remembered and missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.  Should you find yourself in the greater LA area and happen to be riding the Angeles Crest Hwy (the 2), you may find yourself feeling like you're not riding alone.  Dennis loved the road and when not bombing up it on his Monster, he did so in his Saab Sonnet. God speed my friend. --Stuart

This sums it up perfectly :D

i made the mistake of waving to a gomer pyle looking dude on a scooter once. he not only waved back. he followed me.

Only sport bike riders and metric cruiser guys wave to me when I'm on the Duke. When I'm on the HD everybody waves. I think if a Harley dude waves first or waves back he's a rider. If they ignore you or don't wave they aint a brother they just happen to ride.
I'm here to kick a*! and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

There was a funny post with some funny links about the 'wave' a bit ago

I've found the HD riders who don't wave back, generally aren't *real* riders as noted above.  They are the Rolex Riders that folks have come to know and love.  In my (limited) experiences, it's been some of the most gizzled, hardcore looking biker types that are the most given to wave back, or even wave 1st.

When I would ride to my former job, I'd usually catch this rough looking dude on a flat black harley.  He was big, burly, and looked like a genuine bad ass - and would always wave.  Unfortunately I didn't get to wave back half the times since I'd encounter him as I was just exiting a 90 deg right and my left hand was busy.  Oh well

the guys that dont wave also have the nickname "fair weather fairies"  they are the people that dont ride except when its warm enough to go out in a tshirt, dot approved bandanna, and shorts.

I wave at the bike [thumbsup], it has no control over who buys it or pilots it.

Same goes for Goldwing riders and BMW riders for some reason.

i don't wave to anyone. But I will gladly return one.
i think the whole waving thing is dorky. i get it from the subaru impreza people too.
i also get the opposite. the "i have a turbo too" blow off valve thing from any dickhead with a turbo and a loud chirpy BOV.

oh well, i guess that means i'm not a "brother" and have no "soul". lol.
No moleste el gato spectacular...

If I'm not at warp speed I wave at everybody... I would say that Harley riders are the least wavers of the bunch . I think it's because they do feel some superiority on those American bikes. The dressers tend to wave at me more than the sportier looking Harleys.

i wave at everyone I can.  If my hands are busy they get a nod.

If they don't acknowledge back that's their problem, not mine.  Maybe they didn't see, maybe they're not comfortable one-handing.. etc etc.

My fast lap is your sighting lap.
