I would go for the banana bag. 

It is insane how long it takes for BJJ guys to reach BB.  Something like 10-15 years!!!!  It takes a good judoka to make bb in 4-5 years but a 1st degree black belt in judo means nothing, unlike a 1st degree in bjj.  What's scary is a bb in both!   [evil]

I am on a steady diet of ice....cream, thai liniment oil and aleve. im taking aleve, 2 pills every 6 hours for the next few days to help the cramps. its REALLY bad. find a reputable 'Active Release Treatment' practitioner in your area. It will most likely be a chiropractor but could be a physiotherapist or even a massage therapist. Google for one in your area and go for an appointment. If they are any good, one tretment should make major improvements.

Banana bag.  Anything else goes whipping around after you really put your shin into it.  Sorry to hear about the ailments, get well soon.  Sometimes I put two spoonfuls of Tiger Balm on my morning oatmeal to help with muscle soreness.  Works like a charm.

No, not really.  Don't eat Tiger Balm.  Ever.  DTRAL is not responsible for your colon bursting into flame if you eat Tiger Balm.  Don't do it.


I think I finally burned out the sinus infection with antibiotics.  I did a tune-up jog this AM and didn't fall over, so I'm headed back to MT class tonight.  60 minutes of pad work oughta blow the rest of the goblins outta my lungs.

Also look into an osteopathic dr (do) specifically one that practices OMM (manipulative medicine) they should be able to help a lot using counterstrain and various other techniques

thanks for all the tips guys. i am suppose to get insurance in another 2 weeks. so i will check all that stuff out now and make a few calls to set up an appointment shortly there after.


and i was questioning tigerbalm eating.... i read it several times before i moved on.

there was one time i had a sore groin muscle. i applied tiger balm to my nuts. the vaporization of it on my loins made me want to cut my cock off. No lie.


anyway, aleve is working VERY well. i was told by the doc if i take double doses every 6 hours for the first few days it acts as a decent anti inflammatory and also helps relax the muscle so using hte liniment oil with massages will help it lossen up. im only on my 2nd day of double dosing and its doing wonders. but im not sure if its just the painkiller making me not feel it. lol i woke up this morning much less sore than i have in the past fe wdays.

I've been doing a fit trail the past couple of weeks. 1-1/4 mile per lap, 15 exercises along the way. I pulled three laps last night. I was dead as hell.

Under no circumstances should you ever apply TigerBalm near your crotchal region.  I even shy away from placing it on my lower back, ever since one particularly sweaty workout caused some to migrate downstream towards the buttcrack and some sensative tissue.

he man, if you want to try acupuncture, i can recommend a really solid one.  he has a office in flushing and ctown.  he's pretty well known, and he did solid work on me.  only prob is that most insurance wont cover acupuncture and he runs about $89-99 a visit.  but like i said... he gets results.  never believed in the stuff until after he fixed me up.  but you gotta make sure you have a decent amount of time free if you want to see him... due to the line he has most of the time, it can take up to 4 hours before you're out of there.

and concerning the tiger balm stuff... as a kid, i was told about how one time someone fainted and they put tiger balm under her nose to wake her back up.  so, naturally, i tried it out... freaking horrible idea.  everytime you breathed, it would flare up like crazy and then caused me to breath again and flare up etc etc.  got stuck sitting there trying my best to wash it off while breathing through my mouth for half an hour :\

and after reading through this thread, i think i might go and take some classes.  i've been porking up recently, and this seems like a interesting way to get some exercise in.

On the off days when I'm not at a Muay Thai class, I work out with a buddy that has me doing all this crossfit crap.  Sunday we did 100 Burpee clean / presses.  Example here: http://youtu.be/d21PK9LclCE

That guy is using #135.  I did mine with #65 and tried to finish in the quickest time possible.

On the 37th push-press, I dropped the #65 bar right down on the bridge of my nose.  Racoon eyes today, hurts to touch it... might have broken it.

its all about the leg kicks.

I am a righty, but i hardly ever use my right hand.

but heres a favorite combo of mine, buakaw, ali, saki mix up.

My school doenst teach this, its just the way i fight. a left jab in boxing is a set up, but a left "jab" can be a very powerful punch if you throw your body into it, so instead of a jab, its just like a left punch.

anyway

Right punch, left punch left hook to the head, left liver hook, right kick to the leg and then immediately right punch.

the right kick to right punch is a hard thing to do. most people finish with a kick. So you have to really bring hte leg back and stomp it down and turn into a lefty position  to give that right punch.

So try this combo out with the smoker and change it up a bit. maybe throw the kick right punch, then do the left hook, left body.

maybe if after the hook to the liver, u get it stung a bit, go back with the hook then uppercut. but the left hand in a right stance can be VERY deadly, especially how Gokhan saki uses it.

Worse is when you meet shin to shin. Roll a rolling pin on your shins. It hurts like hell at first.

they dont tell u this at muiay thai classes enough, but ur suppose to hit with the inside of ur shin, not the front of it.
