Thought this might warrant it's own thread.
I'll try to get some further details on it to post up for us all but this is what we have so far from the Intro thread thanks to

Desmo Clinic is a new workshop that opened last week in Nancarrow Ave, Meadowbank.  It is owned and run by a husband and wife team, husband on the tools and the wife doing the admin.  Award winning Ducati Technician offering very personal service to the customer at a tarrif below what the bigger workshops charge (no corperate overheads equals a lower cost structure, passed onto the customer)
Italspares import directly from Italy and have a cooperation agreement to supply Desmo Clinic with spares to support the servicing of bevel and belt drive Ducatis.

Located 10 mins walk from the station it makes a very cost effective alternative for Ducati servicing.

Thanks for the info. Matty
quote for my 12k was $200 less than Northside , had a chat with Mike the spanner man, he gave me an outline of his qualifications and 20 year history with Ducati sounds like the goods  and a family run business  [thumbsup]
also gave me some sound advice about an issue I have with my bike (warranty related)
I will very likely be giving them a crack at my bike .

mattyvas

That's cool then.
Let us know what his work is like.
And if you like tell him about the forum and he can introduce himself to all of us.

Hi Dez,
If I am not mistaken, you have a 2008 695? The reason I ask is that you mentioned a warranty issue and I was wondering if it is that strange discolouration on the motor? I have the same bike and was wondering if you also have this problem. If so, what was the verdict on how to fix it?
Thanks and cheers,
Kaz.

Kaz,

the 695's did have some issues with the dis-colouration of the front cylinder.
Fraser were not taking it seriously when it first started happening to the bikes but I think they had
to change there tune when lots of people were complaining about it.
I can't remember exactly what it was that made it happen, something in what the bike was treated with at the factory.

Hit them up and don't take no for answer, just go in knowing that it is there problem and they need to fix it.

cheers

Hi Kaz nah no problem like that so far on mine .
I have read on the main board quite a few had warranty repairs for that problem.
Mine is an unidentified engine noise, really baffling [bang] the head Mech. at Northside took her for a blat and could hear it but not identify what it is.
There solution so far was" its under warranty just wait until it breaks"   WTF
They wont strip the engine down to look for said noise.
I said what happens if it is a major malfunction eg.engine seizure mid corner =me high siding= broken bike and body  "NOT HAPPY JAN"
I am starting to think it is a bearing noise it must be loud as I can hear it with a full face helmet and Termi's with no baffles .
Hope your bike is still under warranty and you get some satisfaction if it is push hard for repair quote the Nth American recalls.

Thanks for all your advice Matty, it is really appreciated.
Dez, I am sorry to hear that you have an unresolved issue with yours. I hope you can sort it out. I guess the trick is to be persistent and not to take their bizarre advice of letting it self destruct. Doesn't sound like a very safe way to get to the root of the problem?! The mind boggles. ???

For those of you who, like me, hadn't worked it out yet...

Mike is Mike the ex Flywheels spanner twirler.

I was talking to Ron this morning and he said he was at the same time disappointed that Mike had left, and proud as hell of him for doing this (it's pretty much exactly what Ron did back when he finished his apprenticeship at Gowies).

Good luck with your new business mate!
