Heard of them but I've never used them. [thumbsup] I usually have my keys on me! [laugh]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

They will defeat 'most' IDL's on the first shot.

Odd discussion today at the local shop...

Three months ago when I was first starting my CCW search, every store I visited had everything I could have possibly considered owning.  Over the past two to three weeks, I have noticed far fewer options on the shelves... and questions about when they could possibly be adding to their inventory are usually met with an explanation about how much difficulty the store is having in acquiring replacements.  Today, one shopkeep actually used the word "shortage."

is this a normal, post-holiday thing?  Do the manufacturers tend to cycle down production during the months when most people are staying in and paying of Xmas bills?

Anyone else noticing this in their area?

SHOT Show just ended. Most related companies have to get back into the swing of things after.

While out and about yesterday took a look at the Ruger SR 556. (Ruger's version of a flat top ar)
Anyone have one? How do you like it?
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

I was kinda set on getting a .40 but the dealer said a plus P or plus P plus for the 9mm would be relatively close in stopping power?

Practice and perfect head shots and use a 22 or pretty much anything.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Just finished my form 4 for my first suppressor yesterday- got to shoot a couple also.  Pretty cool.

I'm thinking about dumping my P22 for a G17 and a .22 conversion kit.  A buddy that's an instructor has an Advantage Arms kit that he recommends, but does anyone have any experience with the TSG conversion?

The Advantage kit needs a threaded barrel upgrade for $100 or so, where the TSG comes threaded (for suppressor use).

I have heard great things about AA. [thumbsup] I inherited a .22 conversion Ciener kit for G19/23s... long story. Still haven't used it yet. But when I looked into Ciener on the internet to get an idea of it's value everyone and their uncle did nothing but pregnant dog about what a total asshole he is and everyone associated with his company. Lots of problems on every front. One guy even drove to their offices (he lived semi-nearby) because he had a problem that they would not even attempt to solve and they tried to lock him out and they all got into a verbal pissing match. Not good business practice. Makes me feel funny even owning the kit. :P

But, on the positive side of that was all the good stuff everyone said about Advantage Arms. Personally, I have heard of Ciener (conversions and suppressors) for years but not AA. If I had to spend my $$ today and didn't have the Ciener I'd spring for the AA kit. [popcorn] [bacon]

On a side note, how the hell does anyone stay in business when they act like Ciener and have the reputation they have? In this day of the world wide web that kind of nonsense spreads well, world wide in a matter of minutes. Knowing now what I read about Ciener I would have never bought their kit. I ended up with it but didn't actually pay for it with my own money. Now I feel weird even calling to order an extra magazine. [roll] Am I the next guy on their list to make the beast with two backs over?

Never shot a gas piston AR platform weapon. Advantages over old school ARs?

no crap being dumped into your receiver and therefore wider cleaning intervals and less wear on the bolt carrier
adjustable rate of fire (depending on the adjustment available)

It depends on the design.  The FAL style have adjustable gas settings, but the Daewoo style don't, just on and off.

The direct impingement gas setup in the AR is the biggest flaw in the design though.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Have too much $$$ in old school ARs but I would consider a piston gun if I needed a new one.

Well considering Eugene Stoner went to work for ArmaLite in the mid 50s and started the AR10, etc. designs at that time he might as well as designed me too given my age. [laugh] I probably should stick with what I know and stay with the original AR platform guns. [popcorn] We are, after all, the same age. [laugh]
